Elia Kazan's compelling social drama was the winner of eight Academy Awards and marks one of Marlon Brando finest screen performances. Terry Malloy, a handsome but inarticulate longshoreman, gets involved in a labor scandal when a fellow dock worker is murdered. He knows that the victim was killed by the oppressive labor union for squealing to a commission investigating misdoings. Terry intends to keep his mouth shut and his job safe. But when Edie, the dead man's beautiful sister, comes to town, he must choose between his allegiance to a corrupt union and his loyalty to Edie.

From the Studio:
Casablanca: easy to enter, but much harder to leave, especially if you're wanted by the Nazis. Such a man is Resistance leader Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), whose only hope is Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a cynical American who sticks his neck out for no one, especially Victor's wife Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), the ex-lover who broke his heart. Ilsa offers herself in exchange for Laszlo's transport out of the country and bitter Rick must decide what counts more -- personal happiness or countless lives hanging in the balance.
Winner of three Academy Awards including Best Picture, Casablanca marks 60 years as a beloved favorite with a new digital transfer and so many bonuses that no matter how often you've seen it, this Deluxe 2-Disc DVD looks like yet another beginning of a beautiful friendship with an unforgettable classic.

Samuel Goldwyn took a huge risk when he insisted that this film be made and shown in 1946. The topic was so close to everyone's hearts that the movie could very well have been a flop. But Goldwyn was right. The Best Years of Our Lives is one of the most powerfully hopeful films ever made, even though it deals with such dark subject matter. Frederic March, Dana Andrews and Harold Russell are all superb as three troubled Second World War vets returning home to a families and a country that have changed radically since their departure. Nevertheless, they find the love, courage and will to go on with their lives in this inspirational film.
