    First Book was Better
    This novel was a bit more of an in-depth study of some success stories of Peter Lynch. I would personally suggest reading his first book "One Up on Wall Street" as a much more informative read as a 'what to do' book, where this one is more of a 'how I did it' book.

    Great follow up to his other books. If you know stocks and want to expand your knowledge on the markets, Peter Lynch is the guy to help you.

    Read This Book Second
    Before investing in stocks read Beating the Street (right after reading One Up on Wall Street, by Lynch as well). When it comes to easy to understand investment principles and examples Lynch takes the cake.<BR><BR>Take Fannie Mae, for example, they do mortgages. Instead of explaining how the duration of their investment portfolio is sensitive to interest rates movements (which are net zero in the long term) Lynch focusses on the growing number of people buying homes and goes from there. Or the local who found Tambrands building lots of factories, doing some more fundamental research, then investing. This is something we can all do.<BR><BR>As a great stockpicking primer or a good read for it's own sake, Beating the Street beats most investment books out there for its simplicity and readablility.<BR>

    Beating the Street
    An excellent book for those who would like to take control of their financial futures. It takes the mystique out of the Stock Market with sound advise for first timers. My first 3 stock picks earned me a tidy sum with 98% in the second year. This book goes well with another Peter Lynch title: "Learn to Earn".

About the Author

During Peter Lynch''s thirteen successful years as manager of the Fidelity Magellan Fund, it was the top-ranked general equity mutual fund in the nation. One thousand dollars invested in Magellan in 1977 was worth $28,000 when he handed over the reins of Magellan on May 31, 1990.

Since his retirement from the Magellan Fund, Lynch continues as a member of the board of trustees of the Fidelity Group of funds and writes a column for Worth magazine. He lives with his wife, Carolyn, and three daughters in the suburbs of Boston and is the author of the investment classic, One Up on Wall Street.
