4 out of 5 rating. 3 Reviews
Reissued to coincide with a new Grace story, Princess Grace, Amazing Grace has been outstandingly successful. It was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and selected for the 1992 Children''s Books of the Year. The story deals with issues of racism and sexism in a positive way, and the striking illustrations have great realism and immediacy. Grace loves to act out stories. Sometimes she plays the leading part, sometimes she is a cast of thousands. When her school decides to perform Peter Pan, Grace is longing to play Peter, but her classmates say that Peter was a boy, and he wasn''t black ... "One of the outstanding picture books of the year." (Financial Times) Ages 5-8
