From Our Editors

It must have been strange back then in the 15th century for the indigenous people of Central America to suddenly be in the company of foreigners. The experience and cultural negotiation is caught authentically in Jade & Iron. Originally collected and published in a series of books by a group of Latin-American publishers, these 14 tales represent the aboriginal and colonial European storytelling traditions and their influences in Latin America. Weaving in and out of the new natural world and the traditions that ran throughout it, these stories paint a captivating portrait of what it must have been like to make contact with new people in a time when everything seemed so foreign.
