Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Froggy Fun! This delightful picture book contains few words but the story is rich in humour and flights of fantasy. Your child will enjoy "reading" it over and over again. Great for children of all ages, especially reluctant readers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Treasure! It was in my OAC English Literature class that I first read this book. My teacher was introducing postmodern styles in literature and it was one that was included. I fell in love with it immediately and wanted to buy one not only for my niece but for myself! It's a true masterpiece and I encourage anyone to read it if they have a chance! It will definitely make you smile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great!! I liked this book, it was introduced to my by the speech therapist at my daughter's school. She is using it to help develop her language skills and to begin to use more sophisticated words. The book has incredible pictures and colours. There are so many things in the pictures, that for a child describing what is happening in the story, it opens many doors. I like finding books like this for my child. She is beginning to learn how to better epxress herself and expand her skills with language. She enjoyed this book. She looks carefully at each picture before starting to describe what she sees and what she thinks is happening in the story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully Smart Picture Book This book is a brilliant thing. Beautiful, intelligent....I read it first in a friend's house...none of us have children, but we all took turns reading it...it's not a book you can simply flip through...the pictures need time....and you make the story up as you go since there are no words... read it...

From the Publisher

The unpredictable events of a particular Tuesday unroll before the reader with the precision and clarity of a silent movie. A Caldecott Medal book.

About the Author

David Wiesner''s interest in visual storytelling dates back to high school days when he made silent movies and drew wordless comic books. Born and raised in Bridgewater, New Jersey, he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. While a student, he created a painting nine feet long, which he now recognizes as the genesis of Free Fall, his first book of his own authorship, for which he was awarded a Caldecott Honor Medal in 1989. David won his first Caldecott Medal in 1992 for Tuesday, and he has gone on to win twice more: in 2002 for The Three Pigs and in 2007 for Flotsam. He is only the second person in the award''s history to win the Caldecott Medal three times. David and his wife, Kim Kahng, and their two children live near Philadelphia, where he devotes full time to illustration and she pursues her career as a surgeon.

From Our Editors

"Dominated by rich blues and greens, and fully exploiting its varied perspectives, this book treats its readers to the pleasures of airborne adventure. It may not be immortal, but kids will love its lighthearted, meticulously imagined, fun-without-a-moral fantasy"--"School Library Journal", starred review. A Caldecott Medal Book

Editorial Reviews

"Kids will love its lighthearted, meticulously imagined, fun-without-a-moral fantasy. Tuesday is bound to take off." School Library Journal, Starred

"A surreal, almost wordless picture book shows the mysterious levitation of lily pads and frogs from a pond one Tuesday at dusk. The frogs soar around town until they fall to the ground at sunrise.
Large, detailed watercolors use dramatic points of view and lighting effects and often show a humorous range of expressions. There is a forecast of further surprises to come on following Tuesdays". -- Copyright © 1991 The Horn Book, Inc. All rights reserved. Horn Book, Fanfare
