Voluntary Recall Notice
Indigo and Chapters Mother's Day Gift-with-Purchase Tote Bag
It has been brought to our attention that our Mother's Day Gift-with-Purchase Tote Bag has been associated with causing minor skin irritations in a few cases. Initial testing has revealed elements found in the manufacturing of these bags may cause these irritations.
The health and safety of our customers and staff are of the highest priority. We ask those who have received the blue tote bag with a green lining as the Mother's Day Gift with Purchase in-store only between April 30th and May 2nd to return the tote for a $20 gift card.
No other tote bags or products in our assortment are affected by this voluntary recall.
We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

1. Why is Indigo and Chapters undertaking a voluntary recall of this tote
bag?
The health and safety of our customers and employees is our highest priority.
A few skin irritations have been reported in relation to the handling of this
blue floral printed tote bag with a green lining that customers received as
a gift with purchase. These were in-store only between April 30th and May 2nd.
During that period 10,000 bags were distributed nationally.
We took immediate action to review and respond to these concerns as soon as
they were brought to our attention.
As a result, on Friday, May 2nd all of the bags were removed from the selling
floor and samples were sent to a third party for an independent test of their
composition.
Preliminary results were provided on Saturday, May 3rd indicating the presence
of a potential skin irritant.
As a precautionary measure the decision was made to issue an immediate full
voluntary recall of all the bags that had been distributed and to safely dispose
of the remaining quantities that had been removed from the sales floor.
We are awaiting full results of our independent tests and will update the
information as it becomes available.
2. What should I do if I received the bag?
We ask our customers and staff who received a bag as a gift with purchase
to return the tote bag to their closest Indigo or Chapters store in return
for a $20.00 gift card.
3. Should I be worried that I have touched this tote bag?
Preliminary test results indicate that a potential skin irritant may be present.
As a precautionary measure, we are issuing this voluntary recall and ask all
customers in posession of this bag to return it for a gift card with a value
of $20.00.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause.
4. How does Indigo currently undertake their quality control procedures?
We engaged a reputable third-party supplier, with whom we've worked before,
to produce this bag. We have not had any previous issue with the standards
of their work. Regardless, these findings are very concerning to us and are
not acceptable. As a result we're reviewing our quality control procedures
to ensure that our high standards are adhered to by our suppliers. We sincerely
regret this situation has occurred and we will institute policies and procedures
to prevent quality issues of this nature from happening in the future.
