Editorial Notes
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: David Crosby, Stephen Stills,
Graham Nash, Neil Young (vocals, guitar). Additional personnel:
Calvin Samuels (bass); Johnny Barbata (drums). Recorded live at the
Fillmore East, New York City on June 2-7, 1970; The Chicago
Auditorium, Chicago, Illinois on July 5, 1970; The Forum, Los
Angeles, California from June 26-28, 1970. All songs written by
members of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, except "King Midas In
Reverse" (Graham Nash/Allan Clarke/Tony Hicks). 4 WAY STREET caught
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on their 1970 concert tour at the
height of their success. Other than one or two overlong efforts,
"Southern Man" and "Carry On," the album is varied and exciting
even with the chat. "Sheer profundity," say's Crosby about Nash.
"Go get it Stephen" says Nash about Stills and even Young delivers
"we've had our ups and downs, but we're still playing together."
Crosby is excellent on "Triad," Nash passes on "Chicago" and on
this reissue Stills and Young delight respectively with "Black
Queen" and "The Loner/Cinnamon Girl/Down By The River." By the time
the album came out, however, Young had already left the group, and
Crosby, Stills & Nash began to work on solo and duo projects.
This re-issue of the 2-LP set includes 4 bonus tracks: "King Midas
In Reverse," "Laughing," "Black Queen" and a 3-song Neil Young
medley.
