Rockabye Baby! | October 25, 2007
Parents on the lookout for offbeat nursery music might find what they're looking for in Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2. An ethereal chorus of glockenspiels, toy pianos, sleigh bells, and synthesizers put a new spin on songs like "The Sweetest Thing," "Desire," and "With or Without You," often to good effect. While there isn't anything particularly revelatory about hearing these instrumental renditions of U2's work, there's nothing unpleasant about them either. Added bonuses can be found in the D.I.Y. mobile in the liner notes and the unintentional typos on the back cover ("U2 are Irelands' legendary musical heros"). This collection is a perfect find for expectant U2 fans and those with a penchant for the strange. ~ Margaret Reges
