"David Rocco's Dolce Vita" has become one of the most popular cooking-based programs on television. The show is filmed entirely in Italy, and each season takes several months to film. Every episode features a simple classic Italian dish and involves David traveling to and from the local market on a scooter with a local friend buying ingredients and then filming the episode at the friend's house.

The show prominently features the music of many local artists whom David and his production crew meet in their travels. Since these artists are all independent and European-based, their music is rarely available to purchase in Canada. The Food Network, TLN, and the David Rocco website are constantly getting requests from viewers on where they can buy the music from the show.
