Although it took Imogen Heap seven years to follow up her solo debut with 2005's SPEAK FOR YOURSELF, the British vocalist was far from idle during the interim, having formed Frou Frou with producer Guy Sigsworth (Bjork, Seal). While her second album mines a vein similar to Frou Frou's electronica/pop hybrid, it also carries a more sweeping and dynamic singer/songwriter aesthetic. The disc's most notable track is "Hide and Seek," a nearly a cappella tune that was prominently featured on the popular teen drama THE O.C., and presents Heap's bold-yet-breathy vocals lounging on a bed of electronic effects. Other highlights include the glitchy, chiming "Goodnight and Go" and the urgent "Clear the Area," both of which exemplify this assured and intriguing record.

    Immi is absolutely phenomenal. Her voice is beautiful and the music makes you want to get up and dance. I knew her from Frou Frou, and when I found she had released this CD, I immediately ran out to buy it. It is one of the best CDs from last year and I urge everyone to check her out.

    "Speak for Yourself" is a lovely album. Imogen
    Heap's voice is a wonderful instrument to express
    the goddess that is in all women. The album is
    haunting, melodic, quirky, inuitive and sweet.
    I first got wind of Imogen Heap through Frou Frou's
    contribution to the Garden State soundtrack.
    Her solo album is a great listen for those who love
    electronica-influenced music with subtle vocals and
    a hint of synth-rock.

    Just What I Was Looking For

    I had downloaded "Goodnight and Go" after reading
    a review in a magazine. I loved it instantly. I'm not
    a fan of the OC so I wasn't familiar with some of her
    other songs. After purchasing the album, I fell in
    love with it. There are several awesome tracks that
    I find perfect to drive to. Headlock is super! A
    great little CD (only 12 songs) to keep you singing
    along.

    Great piece of work, amazing lyrics, amazing all around. Here's my one complaint with all the new upcoming artists. Does everything unknown have to be on the OC?? Death Cab, Stars, Imogen Heap. Television shouldn't be somewhere to market music. Exposure should be given by creating amazing records and playing shows.

    AMAZING CD!! If you liked Imogen Heap's Goodnight and Go from
    the OC, you'll love the rest of these songs. I strongly reccomend it,
    great for anywhere.
