I bought this for my daughter (age 3), who was expressing a lot of curiosity about the human body. She enjoys looking at the different systems (skeletal, muscular, circulatory) and I appreciate the anatomical correctness as it has helped me answer a lot of awkward questions about the differences between boys and girls. We use it in conjunction with the book Inside Your Outside, part of the Cat in the Hat Learning Library series, and I think the two together would make a terrific gift for a curious preschooler.

We created this terrific Body playset at Indigo after my 4-year old son went through a very common pre-school stage of body-awareness. I was looking for a single, affordable toy that could help me teach him about the body parts and functions for both genders. The only comparable item are 2 layered body puzzles from Hape which are wonderful and very unique but are twice the price and individual genders. We asked our partners at Melissa & Doug to help us invent something and we came up with this magnetic set. I think it's a terrific solution that perfectly helps young kids identify and name the major body parts. Both of my sons loved it and have gone back to it many times.
