At our home, Settlers is a staple, but since there's just the two of us, it's a staple that only comes out when friends come over. This expansion we bought solely because the box said it had a two player option, and it does, and the game is fun to play with two players. The rest of the set hasn't had as much use, but is still interesting. You can add fishing, a barbarian invasion, trading routes, and other variants into the game. You should know that the set only comes as an expansion for four players (with the new pieces coming only in Blue, Red, White, and Orange). The other treasure of the set is the inclusion of the draw deck - instead of rolling dice, you can draw cards, which we've found really balances out the game and keeps everyone interested (we've all played a game or two of Catan where our numbers just never came up). You absolutely need the original Settlers of Catan to use this set.
