Our Net-Zero Roadmap

Climate change is one of our biggest challenges, disrupting economies and impacting vulnerable communities around the planet. Our roadmap describes our organization’s goals and journey to address climate change.

We are committed to delivering fully sustainable Indigo private label brands with competitive value and quality while leveraging sustainable designs, certified sustainable materials, and responsible sourcing practices.

Our Facilities & Operations

We will drive down the greenhouse gas emissions from our facilities and operations, while committing to moving to a future with zero waste.

To Date We Have Completed or Committed to the Following:

  • Indigo’s Private Branded Product

    • We recently launched OUI Sleep, an exclusive line of 100% organic cotton bedding that is certified.
    • Our pillows and throws are 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)-certified organic cotton or made with at least 60% GRS (Global Recycled Standard)-certified recycled polyester.

    • Our NOTA paper collection is made with (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified paper and other low-impact materials, such as kraft paper, cork, bamboo, and wheat straw.

    • Our Lore & Lore women’s sleepwear is made from 100% certified organic cotton or from 95% viscose.

    • The Littlest, our new line of baby apparel, is made from 100% organic cotton and is certified.
  • Influencing Our National Brand Product Suppliers

    • Across all our brands, we will stop using glitter, which is a source of harmful micro-plastics, in our products. By the end of 2021, our kids’ products, gift wrap, and cards will be glitter-free.
  • Our Facilities & Operations

    • We are diverting approximately 65% of our waste in retail stores and 87% in distribution centres to recycling and compostable programs.
    • We have eliminated all single-use plastic shopping bags in our stores and rolled out our new recyclable and FSC-certified paper shopping bag. Additionally, our white tissue paper used at cash to wrap and package breakable items as well as our free bookmarks and cash register rolls are also FSC-certified.
    • We have upgraded the lighting and heating units in our distribution centers to gain more energy efficiency .
    • Our distribution centers have rolled out right-sized packaging that optimizes outbound shipments and reduces unnecessary void fill.
    • We are partnering with , a non-profit tree-planting charity that will help us reach our goal of planting 100,000 trees across Canada in 2021.
    • We have launched a partnership with where we will be providing donations of our Lifestyle products that would otherwise be scrapped, to their non-profit Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations.
