Our Commitment: Becoming Net Zero

Indigo’s goal is to have net-zero emissions by 2035. To help us on this journey, Indigo is partnering with , a leading firm that specializes in corporate sustainability, climate change, the green economy, and cleantech innovation.

Write the Future – The Indigo Sustainability Initiative

Indigo has launched a corporate-wide effort called Write the Future – The Indigo Sustainability Initiative.

Write the Future – The Indigo Sustainability Initiative will focus its end-to-end sustainability efforts in three areas:

  1. Our facilities and operations.
  2. Indigo’s private branded product (OUI, Love & Lore, NOTA, The Littlest, Wonder Co., Mini Maison, Auria, Indigo Scents, Indigo, Indigo Paper, IndigoKids and Indigobaby).
  3. Influencing our national brand product suppliers.

To Date, We Have Done or Committed to The Following:

  • Our Facilities and Operations

    • In 2020, our work started with an assessment of our 2019 emissions and setting our net-zero baseline.
    • We are diverting approximately 70% of our waste in retail stores and 80% in distribution centres to recycling and compostable programs. In the future, we will divert 99% of waste to recycling and compostable streams.
    • We have eliminated all single-use plastic shopping bags in our stores.
  • Influencing Our National Brand Product Suppliers

    • Across all our brands, we will stop using glitter, which is a source of harmful micro-plastics, in our products. By the end of 2021, our kids’ products, gift wrap, and cards will be glitter-free.
  • Giving Back to our Community

    • Indigo is partnering with , a non-profit tree-planting charity that will help us reach our goal of planting 100,000 trees across Canada in 2021.
  • Communicating and Engaging With Our Community
