Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ah, Sofie This was the first baby toy I bought for my son and I'm quite sure I only paid $20 for it way back in 2009. But $30? For a rubber baby toy? Inflation? Supply and demand? Regardless, Sofie is very expensive but babies sure do love her. A nice shower gift for those who have money to burn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but expensive toy This is a great toy for younger babies since it has handles to hold on to. I do think its over priced though but the baby I gave it to really loved it and it instantly became their favourite toy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good toy, but overpriced My son enjoys his Sophie for teething. It's easy to hold, easy to clean and just chewy enough to give him some relief. However, many other teething toys fit this category and cost less. It is very cute though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Great teething toy. Really good for younger babies that are still learning hand-eye coordination as the thinner, smaller shape can be chewed on from pretty much any angle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Baby loved it! We got the Sophie teething ring as a gift and our baby loved it. It seemed to be easier for her to grasp the rings than hold onto the original Sophie the giraffe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best for early teethers I was given several teething toys at my baby shower, including both the large Sophie and the teething ring Sophie. My son started teething really early and this Sophie was the only one that he could easily hold and was small enough to fit in his infant mouth. We loved it so much that we bought a second one when we lost the first one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Baby loves it! I was a little skeptical at first (based on price) and wasn't really sure what all the fuss was about but... turns out baby loved it and really thats all that matters! This is a nice smaller option than the original Sophie and fits perfectly into your little ones hands! So far this teether is holding up well and I would recommend it to other mommas/daddies and babies!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This! I was given this as a gift. My baby LOVED this when he was 3-4 months old. It was his favorite toy! We lost it in the airport and had to buy another. He would put it in his mouth and chew on it (with his gums :) He still liked it after 4 months, but wasn't his favorite toy anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must-have When I was registering for my first baby, everyone said you need to have a Sophie. I was skeptical but boy, were they right.  She is easily one of my son's favourite toys and has to go wherever we go. Has provided hours of teething relief and saved me in many meltdown situations.  Durable and easy to clean. The first toy he could grasp. A definite must-have for any new parent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from smell funny I bought this teether for my baby but he didn't like chewing on it he kept spitting up. The teether smells like an eraser. I know it must be natural but some babies don't like it as it is with any product or toy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely Worth Every Penny I know people complain about the price of Sophie, but believe me, it's worth every single cent. It's natural rubber, which is completely safe for the baby (but is expensive to obtain), contains no synthetics, & even the paint is food-grade so is also safe. Sophie originally was designed & made in France many many years ago & eventually was so popular that parents in North America demanded it be made available here. I've been through 3 babies - each with their own Sophie - & I'm also a Nurse-midwife who sees babies every day. This teether is the one thing you must have, if you're getting any teething toy at all! It lasts forever. Just don't lose it - the baby will not accept anything else, trust me!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Toy! (Sophie the Giraffe teething toy was my children’s favorite as an infant. It’s made of natural rubber and non toxic paint to provide safety when children put it in their mouths. Sophie is very light and easy to hold. I would let my kids take Sophie out with us and to my surprise I rarely had to pick her up off the floor; she was just that easy to hold on to. My children loved squeaking her and as they got older they took her in the bath. Sophie has a nice smell to her and comes with a card to put down information about your child to use as a keepsake. Sophie is very durable. I was able to keep her through my three children and expect to be able to pass her on to my nephew or niece. I would recommend Sophie and feel that she would make a great baby shower gift.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have! This was the first toy i bought to my baby before she was even born. For many months it stayed with her all the time and she would chew it when she was teething. It is safe and easy to clean. Now she is 21 months and everytime she sees Sophie her eyes light up with joy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for teething infants Gifted this to my friend and she wanted it bad for her baby girl and has heard great things about it being made of natural items and non-toxic for the baby. Her baby loves it and no complaints from her Momma!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What's with the price? I've seen this little toy in store and I do think my baby would like to chew on it. It is nice and pliable... The thing is, even though I can afford to buy this there is NO WAY I would pay that much for a piece of rubber that looks and squeaks like a dog toy. I don't even think I'd fork over half that amount. What has this world come to!?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING, DANGEROUS! Got this for a gift for our triplets. Loved it initially as my dd would play with it for hrs., however when my 7month old son was playing with it he got one of the legs lodged in his throat and choked, he was turning purple and managed to free it before i got to him. Found similar reviews on other sites afterwards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic toy! This toy is fantastic. My now 10 month old son still loves her. I love that she is not plastic, she is soft, and easy to clean. My little guy loves making her squeak. It has been perfect for teething too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Watch for Defects My 5 month old was just chewing on Sophie for 3 days and I found a piece of rubber on Sophie's ear falling off. To my surprise I then found pieces of ceramic like rubber mixture inside the cracked rubber on her ear. I bought it from Markville Mall ToyRUs store and returned the item immediately. ToyRus told me this is their first returned and will looked into it further. I hope they do as my daughter could have chooked thank god I saw it by chance. Watch out eager parents out there wanting to try this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Absolutely love this toy. I was on a quest to find cloth teething dolls, 'cause all the other plastic teething toys made my daughter cry! When somebody suggested Sofie to me I was a little apprehesive, $20 for a toy that could be described as a dogs' chew toy! But I was willling to try anything, and so glad I did. My daughter contently chew on her for hours. I have recently bought one for my nephew and another for my niece, and will continue buying Sofie for others whom are expecting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complaints of choking prompted toy store to pull from shelves There are thousands of mothers who have blog postings with accolades to this cute and squeaky toy. But there have also been postings about choking hazards on infants having her legs rammed down their throats. One complaint was called into my trusted toy store and they removed the product from their shelves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dangerous! My son choked! My 4 month-old choked on this by getting the front legs in his mouth while on his belly and dropping his head down...this rammed the front legs back into his throatm while the back legs went under his chin. Be careful!! Luckily I was right beside him!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Favorite toy! I had never seen Sophie before but my 5 month old granddaughter came in with her! Addy loves her so much. Its so chewable and easy to handle for small hands. I wish she had lots of play friends like her!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size for little hands OK I know 20$ seems expensive for what looks like a dog toy - ignoring the non-toxic paint, made in the French Alps, classic toy angle - but because my baby was able to grasp it easily (and therefore not drop it unless she wanted to) and I had hard time finding any other toy as slender - it made life a little easier and was worth it. And of course it is also trendy and cute!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An instant favourite! Gave this to my daughter for her first birthday and she loves it! The squeaker is easy and she can make the adorable sound all by herself. And there are many great chewing surfaces for little mouths. Now I just need to keep it away from the dog...
