Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful But Dated Nutrition Book It appears this book was last updated in 2008 so it's a little old, but I found it a useful source of info on nutrition. (For example, the claim that vitamin D fights cancer has been denied by recent studies.) I particularly liked the summarizing "tips" at the end of every chapter. I did not make use of the recipes at the end of the book, not being much of a cook at all myself. I question some of the positions the author takes (avoid GM foods, avoid all artificial sweeteners, don't eat after 8:00 pm etc) as not being confirmed science. Some of the material in the book (avoid high glycemic index foods, avoid coffee) was contradicted by another more detailed good book on nutrition I read ("Nutrition for Dummies For Canadians") that said that coffee is a wonder food and that glycemic load is more important to monitor then glycemic index. I also don't find suggestions that I eat so many "grams" of protein or a certain percentage of one type of food a day as very useful advice since I'm not going to measure such things (I just shoot for eating more fish and vegetables). I did make a number of changes in what I purchase/eat following reading the book.
