#1 New York Times Bestseller

The creator of the 100 Days of Real Food blog draws from her hugely popular website to offer simple, affordable, family-friendly recipes and practical advice for eliminating processed foods from your family's diet.

Inspired by Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food, Lisa Leake decided her family's eating habits needed an overhaul. She, her husband, and their two small girls pledged to go 100 days without eating highly processed or refined foods—a challenge she opened to readers on her blog.

Now, she shares their story, offering insights and cost-conscious recipes everyone can use to enjoy wholesome natural food—whole grains, fruits and vegetables, seafood, locally raised meats, natural juices, dried fruit, seeds, popcorn, natural honey, and more.

Illustrated with 125 photographs and filled with step-by-step instructions, this hands-on cookbook and guide includes:

  • Advice for navigating the grocery store and making smart purchases
  • Tips for reading ingredient labels
  • 100 quick and easy recipes for such favorites as Homemade Chicken Nuggets, Whole Wheat Pasta with Kale Pesto Cream Sauce, and Cinnamon Glazed Popcorn
  • Meal plans and suggestions for kid-pleasing school lunches, parties, and snacks
  • "Real Food" anecdotes from the Leakes' own experiences
  • A 10-day mini starter-program, and much more.
Lisa Leake is the creator of the wildly popular 100 Days of Real Food blog, which in just a few years garnered more than one million Facebook fans and approximately four million monthly page views. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Matthews, North Carolina.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The cookbook to get! This cookbook first caught my attention when I saw that there were meal plans made and laid out in the book, I thought "this is a cookbook for me!". When I got looking through it more I saw that the meals were food that even my husband would like, and items that I would have in my pantry and be able to easily find. I have had the cookbook for a couple months now and have made a lot of the recipes from it, which are easy to make and delicious, my husband even enjoyed the spinach salad!!! The real food isn't a fad diet but more of a lifestyle change. Choosing to take the time and effort to plan recipes ahead of time, do the shopping, take the time to make the meals, the snacks etc... but it is worth it. The philosophy of eating real food makes sense, it's a logical approach to health. Both my husband and I have noticed how much better we feel when we eat real food as opposed to processed food. She also has some great recipes on the website as well, and a couple other meal plans there also. Love this cookbook and I hope she comes out with another one with more recipes and plans!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worth while purchase I have been following Lisa on her blog for a while and then when she published her book, I snatched it up right away. I love to cook and have been cooking using wholesome ingredients for a while, however, it never hurts to add more recipes and find new ideas. This book is a must for those who want to change up their eating habits for the better. And it's NOT difficult.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic book! I have been following Lisa's Blog and Facebook page for a while now. When she announced she had a book coming out I pre-purchased it without hesitation. The first half of the book is full of information on how to cut processed foods from your diet. The second half of the book has recipes that are yummy, and very simple to make. A definite must have for your recipe book collection!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing book! I loved this book, the information is very useful and down to earth and the book itself is very well put together (simple to follow and wonderful pictures). The recipes are easy to make for the most part and I would recommend it to anyone looking to include some healthier foods/recipes into their daily lives. This book is a real wake up call!
