Rated 5 out of 5 by from Orwell is the defining author of our times The novel "1984" is a brilliantly written novel by the author Eric Arthur Blair (who uses the pen name George Orwell). Orwell's use of avid depictions of flashbacks, symbolism, and imagery add up to a devastating novel with a huge emotional impact. The ending is extremely well thought out, and the timing is impeccable. No other author of these times can catch up to the brilliance of George Orwell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Futuristic Bible This book is nothing short of superb, and is a explicit overview of what society has already come to. As far as I'm concerned, it should be read by every citizen of the earth. The world is not what we perceive it to be, and that is what George Orwell is attempting to accomplish. Once you start reading, it begins to manipulate your mind, and you won't be able to put it down. A superb classic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1984 a masterpiece I read 1984 during the school year and it was one of the greatest books i've ever had the privilige of reading. Many of my peers warned me that it was too difficult for a 15 year old student such as myself to fully appreciate the book. They were wrong because i loved reading this book.George Orwell who is also the author of Animal Farm is a brilliant author.I loved the way he indirectly criticized our modern society with the exagarated version of it he portrayed in 1984.Coincedentally this book was written in 1948 and the title of it 1984, showing us that Orwell thought that his fictional world was not a far stretch from his real world.I recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated with anti-utopian novels or anyone who is looking for a good book to read during the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1984 1984 is a fascinating book of social psychology. It is one man's atempt to find the truth behind the veils that the government has created, to live the open life we all take for granted. In a mix of Hitler's WWII regime and the cinicism of the X-Files, it is a classic novel, but one fresh enough to have been written in the last ten years. An excellent, entertainig, and thought-provoking masterpiece.

From the Publisher
