about

In this follow-up novel to the #1 New York Times bestselling Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, it's time to discover a new sisterhood. A story of growing up, friendship, and understanding yourself, about three girls enjoying one last summer before high school.

summer is a time to grow

seeds
Polly has an idea that she can't stop thinking about, one that involves changing a few things about herself. She's setting her sights on a more glamorous life, but it's going to take all of her focus. At least that way she won't have to watch her friends moving so far ahead.

roots
Jo is spending the summer at her family's beach house, working as a busgirl and bonding with the older, cooler girls she'll see at high school come September. She didn't count on a brief fling with a cute boy changing her entire summer. Or feeling embarrassed by her middle school friends. And she didn't count on her family at all. . .

leaves
Ama is not an outdoorsy girl. She wanted to be at an academic camp, doing research in an air-conditioned library, earning A's. Instead her summer scholarship lands her on a wilderness trip full of flirting teenagers, blisters, impossible hiking trails, and a sad lack of hair products.

**“Brashares gets her characters’ emotions and interactions just right.” --Publishers Weekly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Younger Sisterhood Novel This book was really enjoyable to read. It reminded me of the sisterhood of the travelling pants but for a younger audience. However it is still entertaining and a great read for girls of any age.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sweet... It was a sweet book about friendship even when friends change and grow up. It wasn't as good as the Traveling Pants, but it was a sweet read. It made me want to call my friends, just to say hello... ^^

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Good =) When i saw this book on the shelf at chapters, i was unsure of whether or not to buy it. But now i am so glad that i did!! It was really good. I liked how it showed that even as you get older, true friends last forever. These three girls may have grown apart over the years, but now they realize who their true friends are.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another tightly knight friendship 3 Willows the sisterhood grows is yet another story about friendship. Although this one is a little different than the sisterhood series, it delivers the same message: the strength of friednshp is always being tested wherever you go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! This book I really enjoyed along with the other books she wrote, but the twist of the charactors coming down to a lower age in junior high, was good, but not as interesting as high school and college for The sisterhoof friends because there's more drama, and conflict, and relationship so it tends to be more interesting about the older lives. It's a great start for a new, alike series, for 3 willows to grow for another book, and eventually take place in high school and college like the Sisterhood, and some how they might meet, but I enjoyed all her books so it was nice to read, especially for light readers like myself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good I really like this book, Ann Brashares is a really enjoyable author. Ann Brashares also wrote The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and I really enjoyed that series as well. This book isn't a continuation of TSOTTP but it does take place in the same area and some of the characters are mentioned a couple of times. I would recommend this book, its funny and well written.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So sweet and touching I loved Brashares previous series and I was looking forward to this book. 3 Willows introduces us to 3 new characters - who do live in the same town as our Traveling Pants main characters, however, the story is new and these 3 new characters are absolutely likeable and each brings to the story their own unique personalities. One of the things that I love about Brashares is that she is so good at giving each of her characters their own voice. Although they are all friends, they are also each their own person. In 3 Willows we meet Polly, Jo and Ama. They are just about to enter high school and this is one summer that will change their lives. Each of the girls will go through some life changing experiences this summer and it is obvious that Brashares has written a coming of age book here. The center theme being how these girls, through family issues, crushes and life lessons continue to believe in their friendship which is cimented by a Willow that was planted. This book is sweet and touching and the author knows how to tell a story, especially one addressed to young girls who are learning life lessons.
