Rated 3 out of 5 by from Publishing problem with design of book I was one of the first to buy this book and thought it would be easier than looking at all the printed recipes from the CBC website but I have found that this is not the case. First, the book doesn't stay open. The typestyle used for the 1/2, 3/4 tsp etc is too small and light. The type is too close to the center spine making the measurements on the recipes on the right hand pages very hard to read. No complaint on the recipes themselves. The ones I have tried all turned out great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, delicious recipes! Loved this book. This is the first cook book I've bought in a long time (generally preferring to scout for recipes online). We ordered this one in hard copy as my husband loves the TV show. So far we've tried several recipes and they've all come out just great. To try a few before buying the book, check out the website as many are published there. Well worth the discounted price online for the book, though!

I've been watching this show on TV since it aired and have love these easy yet delicious recipes! For the everyday cook or the aspiring foodie in your home - this book offers a diverse range of recipes that you will definitely call some of your favourites. Try the flaxseed and dried cranberry muffins - my fav! :)

Cranberry Flax Muffins These muffins are filled to the brim with dried fruit and flaxseeds. If cranberry isn’t your fruit, switch it up by using dried cherries or chopped dried apricots instead.  1 cup (250 mL) flaxseeds1 cup (250 mL) all-purpose flour1 cup (250 mL) whole wheat flour 1 cup (250 mL) natural bran1 tbsp (15 mL) baking powder1 tsp (5 mL) each baking soda and cinnamon½ tsp (2 mL) salt2 eggs1½ cups (375 mL) buttermilk1 cup (250 mL) packed brown sugar⅓ cup (75 mL) vegetable oil1½ cups (375 mL) dried cranberries Set aside 2 tbsp (30 mL) of the flaxseeds. In food processor, finely grind remaining flaxseeds; transfer to large bowl. Add all-purpose and whole wheat flours, bran, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; whisk to combine.Whisk together eggs, buttermilk, sugar and oil; pour over dry ingredients. Sprinkle with cranberries; stir just until combined.Spoon into 12 greased or paper-lined muffin cups; sprinkle with reserved flaxseeds. Bake in 375°F (190°C) oven until tops are firm to the touch, about 20 minutes. Let cool in pan on rack for 5 minutes. Transfer to rack; let cool completely. Makes 12 muffins. Per muffin: about 338 cal, 8 g pro, 12 g total fat (1 g sat. fat), 54 g carb, 7 g fibre, 32 mg chol, 315 mg sodium. % RDI: 12% calcium, 25% iron, 2% vit A, 5% vit C, 29% folate.
