Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great first novel! I read Choke Hold over a year ago and could relate to many of the characters and scenarios within its pages. Babiaks first novel is an easy read. I look forward to his next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Insight Growing up as I did with the author's brother, this book offers excellent insight into growing up in a small town, and the effects not fitting in have on a person later in life. Using the town we grew up in as a model, Todd shows how hard returning to face your past can be. I don't think very many people won't be able to relate to this well written and refreshing book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Book I got this book because Todd Babiak is a friend of my sister's and I was curious what his book would be like. He manages to put into words all the frustrations that come with being a young man. His skill as a writer is amazing and he shows so much potential. I can't wait to read his next book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blew Me Away I picked up this book because it had a great cover. I liked that it was written by a Canadian. I absolutely could not put it down! It's about being young and being in love and not knowing what do do with your life. It was so true. The town in it - Seymour, Alberta - was just like the town I grew up in in Ontario. Exactly. I read Catcher in the rye a long time ago. This is the Canadian version, I mean it.

From Our Editors

The graduation party was a turning point in Jeremy Leduc’s life, for it was the night that Nick Lozinski beat him up and urinated on his head. That humiliating episode prompted Jeremy to enroll in martial arts. Obsessed with martial-arts training, he eventually owned and operated his own school. Then a scandal surrounding one of his students destroys his business. Now Jeremy is returning home to face the skeletons in the closet and discovers that life is still strange in his small Alberta hometown of Seymour. Todd Babiak’s Choke Hold is a unique, eccentric novel about a young man driven by anger, longing for peace.
