Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instantly hooked Bought the hardcover and upon finishing, immediately had to follow up with the series. I love how they all have their own story. Couldn't pass up the e version for this great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh Dear!! The problem with this book is that I picked it up and read it 3 times before I could even put it down, to discover I was HOOKED. And I have not looked back since - I cannot get enough of all things Carpathian. Feehan has a gift for explaining in detail to the reader to the point you are literally in the same room by the same fire, smelling the same candles with Mikhail looking at you with those dark hungry eyes. And Raven did not disappoint either. I can highly recommend this book. In fact, I think I will read it again - just for the pure enjoyment of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Emotional This was the first in a long series that I plan to continue reading. Raven has telepathic powers enabling her to communicate with a male in the Carpathian race. An intense romance starts and continues throughout the book. This isn't a light read. It is very descriptive and detailed which was great most of the time and bogged down in parts. Recommend this to paranormal romance readers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wordy...and the story? I know fans of Chrstine Feehan will shoot me for not absolutely loving Dark Prince...but I just plain didn't see much to love. The book was VERY wordy (tons of boring descriptions) and actually really repetitive (I thought maybe someone moved my bookmark because I could have swore that I had read this passage...once, twice or maybe even three times before). Most of the characters I found to be very dull. The inconsistencies with Raven's actions and way of thinking bothered me quite a bit. Also parts of the story was rather inconsistent as well (the amount of power the Carpathians possessed as well as why they would logically fear any of the things that threatened them were a little unbelievable). Also many of the events in the story I thought were completely unnecessary...and just there to try to make the story move forward...but really failed to do so. The one thing I can say I thought was the saving point of the novel was the character Gregori... he was the single most interesting thing written in the entire book. Lastly...this edition of the novel also featured the short story "Dark Descent"...which I found was slightly better the Dark Prince...only because it was MUCH shorter and pretty much managed to get through the same amount of story as Dark Prince.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stunning First! This first book of the dark series instantly hooked me onto the rest of the series. Christine Feehan has some serious talent with words - heck, not words - beautiful imagery!! This book features the Carpathian prince Mikhail Dubrinsky and Raven Whitney and some serious acion between the two of them! If you got hooked on romance novels by Sherrilyn Kenyon, this book is perfect for you!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A new Favorite I picked up this book because we were in the midst of moving- none of my favorite authors had anything new out, and all of my old favorites were packed in one of the many boxes in storage. I have to say that I was extremely impressed with this author. So much so, that I am now in the midst of collecting all of her other works, and have yet to be disapointed in any of the Carpathian, Ghostwalker, or Drake sisters books. If you like Sherrilynn Kenyon, Angela Knight, Maggie Shayne or Suzanne Brockmann you will definately enjoy Christine Feehan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blew my mind away This was the first romance novel I ever read, and I read the entire thing in three days! I have since read others but nothing is as captivating as the dark series. I have never recommended a book so much in my life! Buy it and you will NOT regret it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from an amazing vampire-like story When I first read this I thought that it was another vampire knock-off, but when I read this book I totally changed my mind, it's the complete opposite, it's more about the actual form before vampires. I got completely into the series and it's one of my favorites. Christine Feehan opened a door to a whole new world of reading and I would suggest these books to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Prince This was the first book I read by Ms. Feehan, and I must say I could hardly put it down! The graphic details, the characters and the storyline made this book practically irresistable. The Carpathians seem to resemble modern day people, except for the fact that they must only exist at night. Ms. Feehan has definitely piqued my curiosity about vampires and the like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A non-traditional Vampire Story This story starts a series of books about a special race of beings that has protected mankind from the terrors of the night. When Raven Whitney comes to the Carpathian mountains to recover from her frightening job as a psychic tracker of serial killers, she inadvertantly reaches out to the Prince of the Carpathian race, Mikhail Dubrinsky. Mikhail is contemplating the end of his existence. His long battle against the dark forces with no respite has finally worn him down. With no mate to give him comfort and without the ability to see colors or feel emotions he can no longer hold out against the dark forces of his nature. It is either walk into the sun or become Vampire. When he cries out in anguish the voice of a human woman answers and a wash of colors fills his sight, and emotions fill his soul. Against a background of fanatic vampire killers can he convince Raven that she is destined for him? Can true love indeed conquer all?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Succulently Sweet One can only come up with so many words for greatness. I could say this book was a page turner...couldn't put it down (true). I could say that this book was so hot it made me melt like an ice cube in the Sierra desert(also true). I could say my life is forever changed by the eloquent sensuality that this novel conveys(very true). Or I could simply say buy this book, read it and experiance all the fabulously delicious feelings Ms. Feehan has so cleverly exposed to the world. I'll stick with the last one :0) Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Christine is unbeatable... To say that Dark Prince is a great read is like saying the Arctic is a tad chilly. I wasn't sure of what to expect when I bought it, but once I began it, I couldn't put it down! The hero is a unforgettable combination of power and sensuality, the heroine is very cool and not the least bit irritating. I've already read Dark Desire, and can't wait for the third one in the series, which is coming out in April. *G*

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New light on an old legend Dark Prince is a wonderful reworking of an old legend. Christine Feehan has given the vampire story a new twist that is at once sensuous, compassionate, and intriguing. I loved this book and am looking forward to Dark Desire.
