Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Purchase! I am a huge fan of Janet & Greta's show, and I grew up with recipies from their Looneyspoons cookbook. When I saw that this book was available, I had to try it out. Great recipes that please everyone! Many different categories (seafood, beef, pork, vegetarian, etc) and enough to keep my cooking new for a while! We've tried a handful of the recipes already and have been thoroughly impressed. My fiance is gluten-intolerant and his younger sister who lives with us is vegetarian. We've been able to use lots of the recipes to feed all of us and meet both of their dietary needs at once! We loved the "Sealed with a Quiche" recipe! Can't wait to work my way through the rest of the book! Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every Dish is Delicious My husband is a very picky eater who enjoys high fat, high calorie foods and complains when given something to eat that is low in fat. However, every recipe I have made him out of this recipe book he has thoroughly enjoyed. The recipes are so delicious that I prepared my entire Easter dinner using recipes just from this book and both the adults and the children devoured each dish.

Their recipes are designed so that anyone can cook them in a kitchen. It is obvious that a lot of research went into this cookbook. I will say that their three cookbooks are a departure from the norm. I like it and find it to be rather refreshing! Others may not think so. This book is packed with all sorts of nutritional information, trivia, tips, proverbs and "the skinny" on each of the 150 recipes. Be sure to buy the other 2 cookbooks also; 'Looney Spoons', and 'Crazy Plates' .

The recipes are great, easy to prepare but come out tasting like a lot of work was involved. They are very consistent with ingredient usage so while you may have to buy some items, they won't go to waste as they are used in other recipes. Highly recommended!

I bought both cookbooks (loonyspoons and this one) I was a bit unsure and was going to return both books but as I sat down and took the time to read the receipes I began to "dog ear" the ones that I liked by the end of the book more then 90% of the book was dog ear'd !! the receipes may have lots of ingredients but you use them in multiple receipes and my kids LOVED the stuff I have made. The only hard part is picking which receipe to make next !! Thank you both for a fact filled, low fat, FUNNY cookbook that reads like a great book !!!

This book is so amazing, it is all about making fun, easy, and healthy recipes using basic ingredients. I have made many of the recipes and they have all been amazing. This is one cookbook that you should have especially if you are trying to eat healthier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be Merry? - I'm Delirious!! I purchased Eat Shrink and Be Merry to add to my copies of LoonySpoons and Crazy Plates. I bought my copy in Calgary and read it while my husband drove us the 12+ hours back to Creighton. By the time we hit Saskatoon (some 6+ hours later), I had read the book cover to cover and convinced (conned is more like it!) my husband to stop in Saskatoon so I could pick up a 2nd copy to mail to my sister in Calgary! I was completely blown away by the recipes, the food/spice combinations and how this book is chock-full of information, tips and advice. I spent Monday of Labour Day Weekend cooking in the kitchen. I did seven (7) recipes: Pumpkin Soup, Couscous with Grilled Veggies, . Mushroom Brown Rice with Cranberries, Wild & Brown Rice in Coconut Milk with Currants, Curry Cauliflower Soup, Veggies in Cheese Sauce and Chinese Meatballs in Fresh Ginger Sauce. To say this food was unbelievable is a major understatement. The Pumpkin Soup recipe alone is worth the cost of the Book itself! Last night, I reached the new frontier . . . Tofu! I make the Stir-fry with Teriyaki Tofu, and my husband was pleasantly surprised at how it tasted and the tofu's texture! My intentions are to go through all the recipes in Eat Shrink and Be Merry, and then go back through Loony Spoons and Crazy Plates. It is making the transition to healthy eating so much easier than I could have imagined. Thank you so, so much for coming out with this latest gem from your collection! I am telling EVERYONE TO BUY YOUR LATEST MASTERPIECE! Way to go Ladies!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Wait I waited with baited breath all summer for the new addition of the Podleski sister's cookbook and believe me it was worth the wait. The new book Eat, Shrink & Be Merry is as beautiful as it is informative. The recipes are quick, easy and most important nutritious. I really like the way Greta includes the cooking tips or where do I find it sections. That way people who are culinary disabled don't feel that way, she is very subtle and gentle. Janet's wealth of information adds tremendously to the cookbook. I find my two teenage boys looking through and either trying to stump me on the pop quizine sections or dazzle me with the Funky Factoids. The cartoons are as always hilarious and make this book a fun read. My favourite chapter is the last one. It proves these ladies have both a sense of humour and realize we are all human and like to indulge ourselves once in a while. Thanks ladies, it's another hit!

While the quality and variety of the recipes remains excellent, ES & BM excels in the wit and humor throughout. Exceptionally bound and printed with beautiful photographs ending each chapter, we find ourselves reading the book for its cute recipe titles as well as the up-to-date health and nutritional information. EVERY kitchen and EVERY family with kids will be thrilled with the healthy, easy-to-prepare, quick and delicious offerings. A MUST HAVE!
