Rated 3 out of 5 by from I liked it I liked that banter between the main characters, but i thought the relationship development was a bit too fast to be realistic, which just messed with the entire book for me. But that aside, I still enjoyed the book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Series saw a photo of the cover of this book behind my favourite author. She was touring with Jeaniene Frost so I thought I would give it a shot. So very happy that I did as I loved this series. I'm now starting the spin off ones about characters from the Cat & Bones series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Start of an Amazing Series! A few years ago when I bought this book, I was very skeptical of it. It did start out a bit slow for me, but it just got better and better. Each book after that just dragged me deeper into the Night Huntress world. Now it's a series that I have re-read many times! The characters are great. The love scenes are great. What you also get with this series though, that I find lacks a lot with other similar paranormal romance novels, is a wild, amazingly written plot! You get dragged into the world more with each book. Then more so with the spin off books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A kick-a$$ vampire series! On Cat’s sixteenth birthday, her mother reveals to her a huge secret; Cat is half-vampire. Cat knew she was different from other kids but a vampire? Cat also learns the circumstances of her conception and birth and decides to hunt down this vampire that fathered her and kill him for what he did to them. In Cat’s search for her father, she crosses paths with a gorgeous platinum blond vampire with an English accent. The trap is set but it seems this vampire is smarter than Cat believes and instead of killing the vampire she ends up chained in a cave, and at his mercy. Oh what shenanigans these two get into! I loved this book. Cat is a strong, yet battered woman. Her own mother hates her because Cat is a constant reminder of her mom’s rape. Cat is out there constantly killing vampires trying to gain her mother’s love and acceptance even though she is “the devil’s spawn” and “evil” in her mother’s eyes. Bones compliments Cat so well. He helps her learn more about her vampire half and ends up falling head over heels for the stubborn redhead. There is a cliffhanger at the end so you may want to have the second book handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grave Kathleen Crawfield, a.k.a Cat is a girl from a small town in Ohio but there is nothing small town about her. At 16 it was revealed that Cat was half vampire, half human- an accidental baby born after her mother was raped by a vampire. Knowledge of their existence and their part in her life leads Cat on a mission of hunting and destroying every vamp she can find. Fiery and feisty she takes out all who stand in her way until she meets her match in Bones. Bones, otherwise known as Crispin, is a bounty hunter, a vamp who hunts his own kind for money and keeps the dangerous ones from being discovered. He makes her a deal she can't refuse, literally, offering to train her and make her more deadly in her quest for vengeance. But that's not all he wants, Bones wants to show her that being a vampire doesn't make you evil and that maybe without her prejudice and hate she could even grow to love one. Can he convince her that there is more in her future then death? This book is one of the best vampire fictions I have ever read and is one of my favourite books altogether. This isn't your usual vamp romance novel, Cat is a head strong and stubborn heroine who can take care of herself and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty- preferably in the guts of a vampire and bones is definitely a character to make you interested to read more. Funny, well plotted and keeps you hanging on until the very end page, you will read every one before the month is over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED IT I read this book when it first came out but I never reviewed it, so this is a re-read for me. I enjoyed it the first time I read it and it’s a 5 star read the second time around. There is nothing complicated about the plot so I don’t feel the need to write a long review. The story is fast-paced. The characters are enjoyable. And, I can see this series fast becoming a weakness of mine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK start to a series Bones and Cat seem to be on the blogs so I figured I should take the plunge and check the Night Huntress world out for myself. As a series start it had it's moments. I loved the Cat/Bones interaction and can see the attraction. Cat's desire to kill to please her mother and her mother's lack of acceptance bothered me a little but since that was such a small part of the story I could overlook it. It had the potential to have a much bigger emotional impact but I wasn't invested in the character's enough yet. It was a good start and I have continued on to book two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantabulous! I read a lot, and this book not only lived up to expectations, it exceeded them by far. Funny, sexy, great action, suspense, it really has it all. I am so looking forward to reading the next 2 in the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! This book was fantastic. It really had it all. Cat and Bones are amazing characters, Frost wrote them perfectly. I loved the action and the romance and the wonderful sense of humour and sarcasm. It's great how many choices we have as readers now-a-days that feature such strong leading women. Can't wait to read Book 2! Glad I started in this series late and don't have to wait.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My new favorite Paranormal Series It's sexy, action packed, well written, with the most Kick Ass female lead ever! It's listed as a Paranormal Romance, but truth be told, it deserves to have a genre all to itself - it is all that and then some! Fantastic fiction for girls who love their vampires!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from more than a romance I've read many great reviews of this series on multiple blogs and I finally decided to give it a go. I was surprised how much I liked it. I often find paranormal romance books somewhat repetitive or predictable. Jeaniene Frost is in the romance section but this book is much more than just a romance novel. This is one of those books where if you enjoy romance the love story is a great bonus, but if you took away the romance and made Cat and Bones just friends it would still be a great read. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love Cat and Bones I loved this book. Cat is a tough, kick ass woman who is half vampire, half human. When her path crosses with Bones they end up coming together in friendship, war, and love. Bones is fantastic - you can't help but love him - yum. definitley worth the read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read This is the first book in the series. I bought this book on a whim and was not disppointed. The main character "Cat" is awesome. I love her chemistry Bones, especially their back and forth banter. At times they had me cracking up in the oddest places..Like on the train on my way home... This book was so worth the read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Start to Series I got this book recommended to me and I am not disappointed. From the beginning to half way through I was sad and fed up with all the “typical vampire” stuff and wanted more. Wow, did it ever give it to me. I ended up loving both main characters and was on the edge of my seat near the end. I made sure to purchase the other 3 novels in this series including First Drop of Crimson.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good A fun series by Jeaniene Frost. I enjoyed how the main character, Cat, wasn't your typical Vampire. She is actually half human, half vampire. She has most of the same powers of a vampire but has the vulnerability of a human. Cat has been hunting down Vampires since she was 16. That was when her mom told her what she really was, a half vampire. Since then Cat has dedicated all her time to hunting down and killing any vampire she comes across. Cat is, literally, dealy with her silver knives. One night while out hunting she comes across a master vampire, Bones, who get the better of her and captures Cat. He takes her back to his cave and almost kills her trying to find out who sent her to kill him. When she tells Bones that she is working for herself her decides that she could be an asset to him. Bones also hunts down and kills baddie vampires for money. Due to her vampire strength and human visage, Bones thinks that Cat will be the perfect weapon to lure unsuspecting vampires. He and Cat come to an agreement that Bones won't kill her as long as she works for him. They soend the next month together training and soon develop a relationship. Cat and Bones, in the end manage to take down their enemy, but during the fight end up getting seperated. This was a fun, fast paced book, that will definately keep you reading long into the night. The relationship between Cat and Bones is so hot it sizzles. One thing that i didn't like, was that there was so much going on in thi book, it can sometimes be overwhelming. I would've like to have less action and more time spent on the relationship between Cat and Bones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!!! Faced paced ride & a quick evening read that you will not be able to put down! Cat is a strong female half-vamp character with a great pension for knives & of course vamp slaying, her male lead is an incredibly suave & powerful Master Vampire named Bones. A match made in Heaven, perhaps not, but a fiery courtship indeed! Edward who? Bones Trumps any & all other contenders!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from come one, come all bloodsuckers!! Halfway to the grave is the first book in the night huntress series by jeaniene frost. This book will grab you by the neck from page one, a fast paced, sexy action packed story, aimed to please! Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT SERIES OPENER AND ONE OF THE YUMMIEST HEROS EVER I really enjoyed HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE and will definitely be reading the rest of this series in part because of the delicious hero Bones. He is absolutely fantastic and oh so sexy, reminding me on one level of Edward from Twilight in his unwavering love and protectiveness of Cat but of course different in that Bones is all man. HTTG is a fast paced, action packed, somewhat bloody yet utterly amusing read. With a spunky impulsive heroine, delicious, bad boy hero and a unique modern storyline involving the Vampire hunter theme. Catherine Crawford (Cat) is just your average half Vampire college student who in her spare time trolls the local bar scene seeking out the undead and killing them. Her hope is that one day she will come across the vampire that raped her mother, otherwise known as dad. One night while stalking her next target Cat gets more than she bargained for when she attempts to take down Bones, a two hundred year old, British speaking, Vampire, bounty hunter. Upon learning that she’s half vampire Bones quickly turns the tables on the feisty and impetuous Cat, kidnapping her then forcing her into an unwilling partnership. Bones feels that together they’ll be unstoppable since she’s cunning and has the strength of a man. She’s also pretty darn good with a dagger and deadly with a stake. And since other vampires can’t sense her she’ll also make the perfect bait. Cat in turn agrees to let him train her under the condition that he helps her find her dead beat dad. Throughout Cat’s training she’s determined that as soon as she can she’s going to take Bones out too. After all her mother always told her; the only good vampire is a dead vampire. As Cat gets to know Bones however she soon realizes that not all Vampires are created equal. And when the bodies start piling up he may very well be the only one she can trust even though its becoming apparent that Bones has some secrets of his own. The sexual tension between Cat and Bones is awesome especially during their training sessions and I really appreciated the gradual build up within their relationship. Slowly becoming friends as Cat lets down her prejudices. Bones is simply lovely, never wavering in his feelings towards her which at times proves difficult. He has been written as a bad boy so when he falls for Cat…Sigh. The story races toward an exciting, blood splattered, cliff-hanger of an ending setting things up perfectly for ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE. My only regret with HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE would be that it has been written in the first person as I would really liked to have heard what Bones was thinking occasionally. I also wanted more love scenes, there were just too many fade to black moments. All this however just signifies to me a great book, when I want more. Cheers

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it. I am not a romance person. Never have been. But thanks to this series I am slowly turning into one. I bought this book two days ago, finished it yesterday, and bought the next three in the series so I wouldn't have to wait to find out what happens next. Cat, the vampire half-breed, is out trolling bars killing any vamp that wants to pick her up for a late night snack, when she runs into fellow vamp hunter Bones, an undead himself. Making a deal with the devil, Cat trains with him and as per their deal starts hunting his bounty marks with him. Indoctrinated by her mother against vampires and any other undead or supernatural creature, Cat is a very prejudiced young woman, and her mentor Bones works very hard at changing her perceptions and teaches her that in the realm of the undead, not everything is black and white. Cat learns this lesson first hand as they go after a slave ring headed by human and undead partners, all the while growing closer to her heartbeat-challenged partner. It is face paced, sexy, gory, and heartbreaking. Everything every non-romance girl needs in a romance story. Great for romance and non-romance readers alike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The new age Buffy! This is the first book in the Night Huntress series. Cat is a half-human, half-vampire mix. She goes to college during the day and hunts vampires on evenings and weekends. She’s doing well juggling this alter-ego lifestyle until she meets Bones. Bones is a handsome vampire who has the same motives as Cat. He is also a vampire slayer, but he aims higher than the sleazy vampires that Cat meets in bars. Bones is determined to take out the big kahunas that are giving the word “vampire” a bad name. Read more at: http://justkickinit.ca/2009/08/halfway-to-the-grave-by-jeaniene-frost/

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesom read So this book ended up being right up my alley. I am into the action with a bit of romance, and Cat Crawford has it all. Her partner Bones is dreamy and tough, which is a perfect combination. I really enjoy the fact that she signs up with the FBI. Nice twist, and can't wait to see what happens with her and Bones

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Action packed and super sexy I'm really enjoying this genre of paranormal. It's borders on the edges of fantasy, sci fi, horror and thriller. This book is classed as a paranormal romance, and though I don't typically read romance I thought I'd give it a go. I was quite impressed. The action is excellent. Graphic but not gory. Fast paced and exciting. The writing is clever and entertaining, and because it's a first novel I will forgive the few redundancies I found. I hate when an author uses a word or a description too much. There were a few in this but not many and they are no where near enough to ruin the flow of the script. When it come to the romantic plot, Jeaniene delivered. Steeeaaammmy! There was the kinda corny, and expected, romance novel type dialogue but it was well tempered by the action and murder. Altogether an excellent book. Only gave it a four because I'm not a huge fan of romance, but anyone who is will absolutely die for this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bones loves his kitten Halfway to the grave is the first book from the Night Huntress Novels. The story follows Catherine Crawford. She is half human and half vampire. She is the product of her mother being raped by a vamp. Cat is an amateur vampire slayer who kills mainly for her mother. Her mother hates vamps so much that she willing sent her 16 year old daughter to kill them. Now at 22 Cat has already killed 16 vamps and isn’t close to slowing down. Out one night Cat meets Bones. She tries to seduce him to kill him, but winds up on the other end. Bones is a master vampire who is also a vampire bounty hunter. He forces her into a partnership when he learns she is a half breed and he work to teach Cat (kitten as bones loves to call her) to become a great fighter. Under her training with Cat starts questioning her beliefs that her mother taught her and starts to overcome her prejudices. While Cat and Bones work together they develop a friendship and then the sexual tension between them grows until they become lovers. Together they try to find Hennessey a vampire who is killing innocent girls and realize that this mission is bigger than they expected. This book was a fantastic. I read this whole book in one day; I just could not put it down. I was hooked by the first few pages. The interactions between Cat and Bones had me laughing thought the whole book. The relationship that grows between them never felt rush, it felt natural. Cat is a great heroine who is spunky, feisty and very hard headed. She never backs down from anything she fears but her mother. I can’t wait to read the next instalment. I was glad to read in Jeaniene Frost’s website that she anticipates 7-8 books in total. This is hopefully my new favourite series. I can’t believe it took me so long to getting around to reading it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beware of Cat! She's wicked with knives! This is a lovely tale about a 22 yr old girl named Catherine Crawford aka CAT (or Kitten if your Bones). Cat is the product of a date-rape from a newly turned male vampire on her mother. Thus Cat grows up a solid half and half combo of some of the heightened vampire strength, but with the flowing blood and a beating heart of a human. Because of how she came to be and her mom's deep deep deep hate of vampires, Cat uses her heightened strength and beauty to her benefit to annihilate any bloodsucker that comes her way and to prove to her mom that she isn't a vampire nor an evil thing because of the half-vamp blood that flows in her veins. Everything is going swimmingly in Cat's world of killing vampires and proving to her mom she aint one of them, until she meets the super sexy undead englishman Bones - who naturally turns her world upside down!!! Although she initially can't stand the guy as he forces her to partner with him and teaches her how to better her mad fighting skillzzz, she soon realizes that maybe humans and vampires can be both equally as bad, as well as good (i'd use this term lightely, ha!) and that Bones has her best intentions in mind. Together they now only grow close intimately but also as partners who are dead set in catching the super-bad master vampire Henessey who is kidnapping/using, and killing innocent girls! To top it off, there is so much more than simply catching Henessey as it seems there may be some corruption up on the human side of things as well!!! Overall, this book is thoroughly entertaining, has some great action, some fantastic comedic relief, as well as some solid romantic moments. Cat is a wicked vampire hunter, with great aim, but that stuff is only really appreciated when Bones enters the picture, trains her to be better and has some of the best lines of the book. As mentioned her aim is awesome when striking vamps, it's just when Bones is kinda like "not again Kitten, can't you aim to wound so i can talk to them first" or something along those lines. It's hilarious. He calls her the Grim/Red Reaper because she's so fast and deadly. Frost does an amazing job on Bones' dialogue! I did feel the "steamy" more romantic scenes left a little to be desired (maybe because i just read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series which does not lack in that department and i LOVE it for it) and felt sometimes it was a little rushed or cut short. Other than that, i unfortunately can't say it's my personal favourite but that it is definitely good fun, a quick read at only 350+ pages, and has a great mix of action, comedy, and romance that make for a more enjoyable read!!! I will definitely be reading the follow ups, especially with the way this one finished. I aint sayin' no more!!!! Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh boy....did I ever love it!!! This is easily one of my favorite paranormal series. I just love the story line and I am in love with Bones....one of the sexiest male vampires in fiction novels. Cat Crawford is the only half vampire half human know to vampires. Brought up to hate the very thing that made her supernatural, young Cat spends her nights hunting and killing as many vampires as she can get using her sensuality and her wit. Then she tries to ensnare an unusual vampire who turns out to be a very old, very dangerous, very delicious Bones aka Crispin. Well, long story short, she falls in loves and kicks butt while doing it. Loved it! As simple as that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome book! I just finished reading this book, it didn't take me too long to read it. This book has great characters and a great story line to it. It is different from other vampire books i read and this makes this book unique. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes vampire books with a little romance wrap into one. Happy reading!! I would also recommend reading the second book in this series, i haven't finished it yet but it is the same as the first one, a very awesome book so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kat would kick Buffy's butt any day This was a really good book. I loved the way Kat & Bones worked together. But parts of me wanted to smack her when she wouldn't trust him cause he was a vamp. Cried like a girl at the end(probally cause I am a girl) and can't wait to read "One Foot In The Grave".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whoo-Hooo!! Loved it, loved it, loved it! It's been awhile since a book grabbed me by the seat of my pants and all I could do was hang on for the ride. It's hard to believe this is a first-time author because this was such a good book. Cat belongs up there with Anita, Sookie, Rachel and Elena as far as kick-ass protagonists go. If you are a fan of the paranormal, vampires and urban fantasy then run to your nearest bookstore and BUY THIS BOOK. It is worth every penny! Can't wait for #2!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paranormal Romance at its Best I decided to try this movel due to lak of anything better to read and then I couldn't put it down. It has a strong plot and the fact that it's vampires (and half vampires) hunting vampires gives it a unique edge. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal romance and action. The next in the series comes out April 22, 2008! Keep and eye out for it.
