about

Cooking good food from scratch is a skill that can save you money, keep you healthy, and make you and your family and friends happy. What I've tried to do in this book is pick a whole load of meals that we all love to eat and break them down to make them as simple as possible. There are plenty of clear instructions and step-by-step pictures, so whether you're an accomplished cook or a complete beginner, you'll be able to enjoy cooking and achieve great results in the kitchen.
This book is inspired by all the people I've met who thought they could never and would never learn how to cook. I believe that good home cooking is one of the most essential, fundamental skills that every single person on this planet should have in order to look after themselves, their families, and their friends. This food revolution is all about people learning how to make a recipe, then teaching that recipe to their friends and family . . . if enough people do this, pretty soon everyone will be cooking. So cook something today, then PASS IT ON!
Jamie Olivergrew up in his parents' country pub, the Cricketers in Clavering, where he started cooking at the age of eight, before studying at London's Westminster Catering College. He then went on to work with some of the top chefs in England namely Antonio Carluccio at the Neal Street Restaurant and Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers at the R...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dynamite Book! I have 6 of Jamie Oliver's books, and I have his 15 minute meals book on my Christmas list, but this is the one I use the most. I have made; Asian chicken noodle broth, classic tomato spaghetti, perfect roast beef, pork kabobs, crunchy garlic chicken, baked cod wrapped in bacon w/rosemary. This book is dynamite, all the recipes were easy and delish! Although I'm not entirely sure bacon and cod go together, my husband liked it. I'm always wondering what to do with pork tenderloin that the kids will eat, and these kabobs are awesome. I made the roast beef last year for Christmas instead of turkey, and everybody loved it. Its been a great part of my collection, I can't wait to make some curries, and chopped salads. http://stayathomestacy.weebly.com/library.html

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recipes they'll love I have been using alibrary copy of this for the past 3 weeks and tried 6 of the recipes. Each one turned out exactly as shown and my family loved them and kept going to the fridge looking for leftovers. This is not tricky cooking, but every day stuff that anyone can make. The instructions are clear and the techniques are easy. There's no need to go out for food when you can make these appetizing meals at home. It can get a bit pricey buying some of the fish, but it's still much cheaper than take out and much tastier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Gift for Yourself or Someone You Love If you know anyone who doesn't know how to cook or is even just moving out on their own but loves good food, buy this book for them. This is great book for beginners and foodies alike. Jamie Oliver is a great supporter for getting people back in the kitchen and quite relying on take out and instant food, that is destroying the health of our nation. Buy this book for yourself as well, try some recipes and pass them on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practical! I've tried a lot of recipes, from cookbooks, to those offered online for free. To those of us who like to experiment, we know that not all the recipes work out. This book is phenomenal in that so far, everything has come out wonderfully. The recipes are simple for everyday use, and practical for everyday people. I especially loved how there were step by step photos. They helped a lot. I would definitely purchase a copy for my daughter going off to university next year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple to cook, and delicious to eat! I had watched one episode of "Jamie's Food Revolution" TV show prior to purchasing this book. Having now owned the book for two weeks, I can say that I love it. I've cooked at least six meals from the book, and even my picky seven year old has called all of the meals yummy. Unlike other cookbooks written by celebrity chefs (i.e. Gordon Ramsey) that I own, Jamie's recipes are simple: - I can find all the ingredients in a normal grocery store - there's not an overuse of herbs - the meals are easy to assemble and cook As a detractor, I'd like to see healthiness ratings for all of the meals. A few involve using heavy cream, and salt - things I normally do not put into my own cooking. Overall, I'd have to give this book 4 stars, and I'm going to keep using it for quite a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Book Very easy to read and simple to cook. I like his cooking style. He likes to use bacon and salt. For heath reasons, I would pour away all the trans-fat bacon oil and use less oil & salt. Like any other books, I have a hard time portioning my ingredients, 'use two tablespoon of natural yogurt' - what do I do with the rest of the pack ? I don't like to eat it just like that. Use half a lemon, what do I do with the other half? Do I have to cook with lemon everyday? Hopefully someday, he will come out with some solution to maximize the use of ingredients. I would strongly recommend this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Cookbook to Have I bought this book because I like his cooking style. I have made several receipes now and all have been well received by my family. I really recommend this book if you enjoy cooking and are looking for quick and very tasty receipes to make. The concept of his food revolution of taking 4 receipes and teaching them to someone and then they would take 4 receipes and teach someone else is a neat concet. It brings back a time when preparing meals with friends and family was meant to be enjoyed (the time spent together) and the food was to be savoured. The layout is beautiful and excellent, very quick to scan and prepare and lots of pictures.
