The title alone speaks to the authenticity of the writers--"shoyu" is the Japanese word for soy sauce, and that's all we knew growing up as Japanese-Canadians. From the recipes, to the gorgeous photos, to the top notch publication, and finally to the heartfelt stories and accounts of the life and times of the Nisei during the war, this book is a beautiful representation of our culture. It is a real treasure to own and one that I hope will be passed on from generation to generation.
