about

This book is a one-volume guidebook to the Bible for adults who want to dig deeper into their Bibles. Cooper takes readers on a chronological exploration of all of the books of the Bible. He presents readers with a sense of overall story as well as with a number of analytical tools for further reflection and additional study. Each page of text has a sidebar entitled Where to Look, which guides readers to appropriate verses that link directly, and sometimes as point/counterpoint to the content of each particular chapter. Noel Cooper has been training Religious Education teachers for over 25 years. His latest educational innovation is to offer a Bible Study course online for which Language of the Heart will be a resource. "

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An Education about an important classic of religion and literature Given to me by a friend who runs a Toronto drop in who loaned me her copy - like a well written Coles crib for the Bible - which so many of us know about but know so little - Cooper's book has so much helpful and thought and emotion provoking for anyone that read English - with an acknowledged Roman Catholic bias that makes Cooper's readings of the bible's many books helpful in understanding all degrees of Christian and Jewish faith - this from someone fascinated with Robert Graves' "King Jesus" interpretation of the place of Joshua of Nazareth in history and the imagination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thought-provoking I bought this book for a course and expected a dry read. I was happily mistaken. I particularly enjoyed the pages that explored the Bible from a historical perspective. It is a clear and honest approach to understanding how people were meant to read the Bible.
