Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I bought this book several years ago when I was putting in a perennial garden. I refer to it constantly. It is not only written for northern gardeners, it has the plants Latin name, height, charactristics, etc. I love this book so much that I bought a copy for my niece who is not planting and designing her own perennial garden. Lois Hole surely knows her plants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of a Kind This book was an unexpected gift from my stepdaughter. I have many gardening books and have been an avid gardener for years. I found this book informative, written in a symplistic style that gives the information in a manner that is very easy to understand and follow. It provided solutions for some plant problems I have experienced. I also liked that Lois dealt with plants that are common in most gardens and the pictures are really beneficial. I have found that too many plant books provide drawings and the emphasis is on the Latin names which gets frustrating for the average gardener. I highly recommend this book for both new and experienced gardeners and it will definitely be on my gift-giving list for Christmas this year. For me, it will be the first reference book I will use. Thanks Angela. Ellen

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks for the flowers This book is a lifesaver. I recently started perennial gardening and Lois' tips are priceless. She talks about what to expect from the plants, how and when to divide the plants (this was always a big mystery to me), and which types of plants to buy. I don't buy many books, but I've now had this one from the library for as long as they will allow so I guess I need to get myself a copy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lois hole's perennial favorites I just started serious gardening after I found Lois Holes books on gardening for our zone. The other books had lovely photos of flowers that could never be grown here. It had been a life saver not to mention a money saver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lois Hole's Perennial Favorites Gardening in 2b to 3 zones can be a challenge. I have found this book to be absolutely invaluable. The setup of the book, the information included and the pictures and hints have been more helpful that any other book, magazine or gardening articles I have read. It gives you sure things (as sure as anything in gardening can be) and some things to try that are more of a gamble if you want to try something a little more challenging. I would and have recommended this book to anyone starting out with perennials and even the more experienced gardener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have! Three years ago I was bitten by the gardening bug, and this is one of the most indispensible books in my collection. It has beautiful pictures for each plant, and it's in a-z format by the common name, which makes it a snap to find any plant. And if all that weren't enough, it's Canadian! Simply a must have for any gardener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lois Hole's Perennial Favourites I am an avid gardener and love to grow flowers as well as vegetables. One of the great things about this book is that it is Canadian, which does make a difference when deciding what to plant, because hardiness is important. For a great price, she covers everything from what, where, when and how to plant perennials. The photos are very good, and there's one for each plant. Highly recommended.
