Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heated feud This book is the second last one in the Immortals series. In this book, Haven and Ever are plotting against each other. And I don't mean reputation-wise. I mean that they're trying to kill each other. It's a fight to the death, constantly anticipating that final showdown where either one, or BOTH of them, get sent to the dreary abyss of the Shadowlands. Not only this though, Ever has to make a decision between Jude and Damen, but because she's so confused with everything in the present, it takes a few flashbacks to the past to see who she really, truly is destined to be with. Plus, someone new is added to the circle of people knowing the secret AND a with the new high school year starting, the school has turned upside down! If you wanna know what I mean and what happens, read the book. It's a great way to anticipate the last and final book of this series. And if you've read this far in the series already, I highly suggest that you don't stop now coz this book, and the next one probably too, is going to the GOOD!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Getting better This installment gets a little more in depth of the otherwise ignored characters and helps you get a feel of why they are the way they are. Also, theres more on the love triangle between Jude, Damen and Ever, as well as some death. All together a good book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improved Drastically I have to say that Night Star was far better than the two previous books, Shadowland and Dark Flame. It has enough spiritual and actual action going on to leave you wondering what's going to happen next. The first half of the book is mostly about Haven and Ever's choice between Damen or Jude. But one trip to the Shadowland clears up all those problems, leaving the real action to come. Ever finally realizes it's time to take the first step in ending her feud with Haven. Which I'm happy for as Haven has become a total drag. It's completely wrong to be happy when someone dies, no matter how terrible. Yet, I was so glad that Haven finally left. Showed some true colour on her goth/emo appearances from the first book. I loved how the book involved more of the secondary characters. Like Miles and Jude for instance. I've always loved Miles, he's just hard to not like, same goes with Jude even though he got in the way a couple of times. It's hard to be upset with him though. Now, that the problem with Haven is over, and Ever's decision who to choose. We're on to a bigger problem with a cryptic poem for Ever. (And the antidote to their immortal love, but at least it wasn't heavily hinted so it's not completely being milked.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Second half saved it This series had begun to drag with me, nothing ever really finished or got solved, and Night Star is not much different. However, the second half of the book Ever really gets into motion and finally sees what she's meant to do and she isn't afraid anymore. I guess in spiritual terms I'd say she 'found herself'. With the huge mystery surrounding the growing dark place in Summerland and the quest for the antidote so that Ever and Damen can finally and truly touch, it's safe to say that I will be reading Everlasting, the final book of the series to see how it all (hopefully!) gets solved and they're finally able to get on with their immortal lives. ~~ Here, Ever has to come to terms that Haven is out of control and she needs to, well , kill her. Send her immortal soul to the Shadowland. However, even though this plot device is meant to last through the book, there were times, one very much in particular, where Ever could've did the deed, brushed her hands and gone to make out with Damen. I know she's reluctant to kill her former best friend, she's upset, she wants to help her, but when she had so many opportunities I couldn't help but say "Go! Do it now!" Haven's become such a shadow of who she used to be and hell bent on destroying Ever, I kept waiting for when she would get her comeuppance. This pretty much made up the first half of the book; Haven and Ever circling each other like cats, getting their claws in occasionally. Then there was the whole incident in Damen and Ever's past life that made Ever pull back and question their relationship, again. At this point I was getting a little flustered. Here's Damen, a supremely hot immortal guy, who's been with you in different lives over 600 years, searched the earth for you each time, saved your life, has loved you for centuries, and you still doubt him?? I had a difference of opinion because even though Damen wasn't the best person in his past, it was his past, he's learned from his mistakes and I for one didn't see why Ever continuously questioned his actions in the past and somehow her current life with him went out the window. What's done is done, move on. With all my frustrations though, the second half of the book saved it. After a scene where you think Haven's gotten the last word, Ever comes back all energized and spiritually connected etc. She's ready to kick Haven off her high horse. I loved it! Then the big showdown occurs and...wait for it...*sudden appearance time*! Yep. And this one made me groan out loud. The final mystery Night Star lets us in on is in Summerland, the place of perpetual happiness. Except Ever's discovered a place of darkness and no magic, that's desolate and depressing and comes with a creepy old lady who spurts a prophecy whose meaning I'm clueless about. And this darkness is spreading and she and Damen don't know what it is or what it could mean or what part they'll play.
