There are very good reasons why people need to adjust their diet from time to time - but we should do it for good reasons and not for the reasons this book makes up. Avoid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Introduction I was advised by my doctor to do a "paleo-type" diet. I wasn't sold on the idea, but I wanted to educate myself on it to make an informed decision. This was the book I picked. I read the whole thing, and did ultimately start paleo with great results. The books goes far into the science which for the average person may be more than we needed, but it supplies a good outline and I felt I had all the tools I needed from it to start the diet.

Easy to read but can be technical, which is okay because it gave me something to think about and re-evaluate my thinking on food values. The recipes are all good if you like to try them. I'm pleased that I purchased and read this book, I would recommend this book.

Her story was inspiring and true - everything you feel comes right down to your diet. So, we bought this book and every recipe we have tried thus far is DELICIOUS!! I've tried gluten free bread at restaurants so I expected the bread being gluten AND wheat free in this book to be just as bland. Not at all!! Best bread I've ever had. This new eating lifestyle has definitely had a positive effect on my boyfriend and even myself who doesn't need to cut out gluten or wheat. Buy this book and you will not be disappointed. I only have this book by her and do plan on buying her first one to try out this recipes too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointing, not worth the money. Many reviews and articles I read about this book mentioned how many egg free recipes there were. I have an allergy to eggs, as well as celiac disease and the hope of finding egg-less ideas was the entire reason I purchased the book. There is not a single egg free pancake or muffin recipe in the whole book, and the substitutions offered are not very good. For example, under the sweet potato recipe the no egg modification is to "saute the ingredients to create a delicious hash". BORING. The main dish recipes are nothing special. Save yourself the $30 and look up paleo recipes on google or pintrest. The one redeming thing about this book is that it may be good for someone who needs a lot of info on how to clean up their diet.

Tonight I made the lamb chops with olive tapenade, and my husband thought he was at a restaurant. Soooo happy that we can eat healthy and gourmet at the same time. I agree with the reviewer who mentioned the treat to actual meal ratio, but I think that authors of "specialty" cookbooks like this (vegan, paleo, gluten free) all tend to overdo the sweets section. It's like they're trying to say "don't worry! you can live a normal life!" ha ha. Overall verdict though: I could not do without this beautiful book :)

I use this cookbook almost every day as I am a young chef and don't have much experience with cooking.  The only negative aspect I could find with the book is that the author doesn't offer any substitutes for ingredients that may be hard to find (which sometimes is the case in Canada).

The entire recipe index by picture! Brilliant! I'm very visual and like to see the meals I want to make. She makes delicious renditions of traditional foods. They work because she has such a passion for cooking, and didn't want to miss out on her favourite foods. She has adapted them brilliantly. This is a must have for anyone, not just Paleo!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting recipes I agree with the previous reviewer, this a a good go-to book for special treats - but I also think it is a good book to use when transitioning from non-Paleo to Paleo foods. I can't imagine going cold turkey with my 10 year old, so this book has good recipes to introduce him to a new way of eating. He is a big fan of the n'oatmeal cookies and the lemon meringue pie, and this weekend we may whip up a batch of cupcakes! And yes, are the foods "really" Paleo, which relies more on fresh fruit, veg and pastured meat etc, perhaps not, but I'd like to eat Paleo, and occasionally have a chocolate cupcake - so this book works for me!

It provides a great overview of the Paleo diet (lifestyle) itself, as well as some tasty recipes. It is very reader-friendly and a great resource for anyone considering venturing down the Paleo diet path.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Content is OK, Kobo eBook is broken Can't say much negative about the quality of Diane's work, however quality of Kobo eBook is very low (used on an Android tablet). Not a big fan of Kobo platform as it lacks features of FBReader and other great readers out there, this eBook makes things worse. Most of inline links lead to *wrong* content, like links to recipes. Any time I clicked on one ended up with wrong recipe. Prior to purchase of this book did a research and Kindle version of it was plagued with problems too. Sounds like either publisher did a poor job supplying malformed content to Kobo-Kindle or in both cases converters killed the book. Waiting 1-2min for page turns or navigation jumps is a joke. I have not experienced that with any other book on the same device using "normal readers" like CoolReader and FBReader. Bottom line: looks like all text is there, making it somewhat on-par with printed version, however eBook features are broken and Kobo software makes things even worse by being unable to follow non-linear navigation.

I love how she lays out all the info in a way you can understand and her meal plans are the easiest way to get started. The meals are amazing and we stuck to it 100% for our 30 days with the help of this book.
