THAT THE ONLY TRUE TREASURE . . .

Once Silence was willing to sacrifice anything to save the man she loved. Now a widow, she's finally found peace when Charming Mickey comes storming back into her life with an offer she can't refuse. But this time she won't be the only one paying the price for his sins.

LIES IN A WOMAN'S HEART?

Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was okay (Not the best in the series) I am debating on whether to give this 2.5 stars or be generous and settle on 3 stars because this is a really good series. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but this book is my least favourite in the series so far. Silence was first introduced in the first book (Wicked Intentions) and she was a happily married woman until she made the mistake of trusting "Charming" Mickey O'Connor. Imagine my surprise upon realizing that these two will get a HEA. I did not think it would be possible because of what Mickey had put her through, but I have to admit that I was intrigued because I love reading about redeemed heroes. Some of my favourite HR heroes fall in that particular category. But, in this case I don't feel that it was done well. I was expecting Mickey to get down on his knees and grovel, but sadly that did not happen. Instead, he remained inconsiderate and egocentric, which made him unlikeable in my eyes. I don't even think he was properly redeemed. In the case of our heroine, I found her to be jejune. I could not connect with either of them because I could not understand their motives, actions, and behaviours at all. Silence's reasoning and actions are among the things that baffled me the most. She has always been impulsive - that much was evident in Wicked Intentions - but you'd think she'd learn something from her experience, but it seems like she didn't. It took me quite a while to finish this novel, but I pulled through largely because I wanted to read the next one as soon as possible. There have been times when I was reluctant to recommend a book but still did it because the book is part of a series and skipping one book would take away from the overall plot. This is one such case. Ideally, I would not recommend it, however, since the plot is tied to the upcoming books, I think that it is necessary to read it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great read Loved Micky and Silence, two of my favorite romance characters in along time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3.5 stars This is an unpopular opinion because Scandalous Desires is arguably the most popular and most loved book in this series. I just never really got the hype. Still enjoyable though cause Ms. Hoyt has a way with words.
