From the brilliant pen of Agatha Christie comes the first novel in her Tommy and Tuppence mystery series featuring the beloved sleuthing duo—now a movie on both Acorn TV and PBS.

Tommy and Tuppence are young, in love… and flat broke. Restless for excitement, they decide to embark on a daring business scheme: Young Adventurers Ltd.—"willing to do anything, go anywhere." But they get more than they bargained for when their first assignment for the sinister Mr. Whittington draws them into a diabolical conspiracy.

It isn’t long before they find themselves plunged into more danger than they ever could have imagined—a danger that could put an abrupt end to their business…and their lives.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super fun This was really, really fun, and the thing that made it so great was the characters. Tommy's straightlaced surliness, Tuppence's cheerful energy, and Julius' eccentric Americanism really carried the story. If it was written today, all the kidnapping and tying up and cyanide swallowing would seem a bit ridiculous, but as this is practically the original, I loved it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps you guessing I have to admit that I have read Agatha Christie previous to this novel and have wondered what all the fuss was about. Hercule Poirot is decidedly not my favourite literary character and I have always associated one with the other. Well, the 'great' inspector is no where to be found in 'The Secret Adversary' and he is not missed. I love Tommy and Tuppence and will certainly read more of Ms Christie's non-Poirot books. The writing is impeccable and the characters mysterious. The clues are well presented with lots of red herrings to keep the reader guessing. I guessed and guessed and was almost right. It was so fun to read a cozy mystery that wasn't obvious.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Thrilling Story I read this novella recently and really enjoyed it. At times it's a little repetitive and boring but all in all a very good suspenseful read. Tommy and Tuppence have the job of finding who Mr.Brown is and they are all after an oilskin packet that contains information that is monumentally vital.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourites Tommy & Tuppence have something special going on... they're a breath of fresh air in Crime Fiction. You both sympathise with them and get attached very fast.
