Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Intelligent I read SILVERWING as a novel study in an English Language Arts course and loved it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Childhood favourite! I still have the copy I read as a child. I hope to read it to my children someday when they are old enough. I loved stories about animals when I was young and this one was unique, being about a bat (most animal stories for children are about dogs and horses). Fantastic adventure story and great plot line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A favorite of mine since childhood! I've loved this series ever since my fourth grade teacher read it to our class (I'm in university now). I still pick it up and reread it every so often! The characters are fun and dynamic, the story is interesting, and despite being meant for a preteen-young adult audience, it treats its readers maturely. I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good fast-paced read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended Series A series I will never forget! I first read this novel as a child and still tend to re-read the content during breaks and such. It truly is very unique and heartfelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good book! I read this book a few years ago out of pleasure, and then had it read to me in school. Both times it was great, and the second time made me remember how much I loved the book! If I had nothing to read, I would definitely read this book again. I totally recommend it, especially if you are into animal books! #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read. I thought this was the most adorable story ever. I had this book sitting on my shelf forever and was putting off reading it but when I finally decided to pick it up, I couldn't put it down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING One of my favourite book. Oppel is one of the best storytellers of all time. I read this as a young teen, but I still go back to it as an adult. Engaging and unique story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Series of All Time! I was first made to read this series as part of a book project in the 6th grade, and 17 years later I can still say that it's quite possibly the best Young Readers series I've ever read. I had never enjoyed books before this. My mother even set down the first Harry Potter novel in front of me and I showed no interest in stories until I was made to read Silverwing. The characters are incredibly well rounded and relatable, the plot is intriguing, with twists and turns and non stop action that will have you returning to your favorite scenes to reread them again and again. I can safely say I've read this series a solid hundred times over, and it never gets old. It contains fantastic themes for young readers, characters they can easily see themselves in, and (hands down) one of the BEST written villains I have ever encountered on a page or a screen. Highly, highly recommend for the bookshelf of any preteen, teen, and yes even adults.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Timeless Story I first read this book when I was 12 years old and I was instantly hooked. I devoured the rest of the series as well as the prequel novel Darkwing. Today it is still one of my favorite books. It is one of those stories that parents won't mind reading to their children over and over again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Canadian writers out there! I first read Silvering when it was published in the 90s. I was in the 5th grade and I loved it. Such a thrilling story through a unique perspective! A must read even in adulthood. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! I remember reading this book when I was 11 or so, and absolutely loving it! You don't read many books with a bat as the main character so it was something different too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obsessed I was absolutely obsessed with this series as a kid. I still am. It's unique and a great story that is well put together. An absolutely stunning beginning to one of my favourite series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly enjoyable book! I had to read this novel for my children's literature class and it was actually better than I thought it would be. It was the only book from the course that I could not put down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Beginning to the Series This is a great introduction to the series. The story isn't necessarily new or deeply original, but Oppel writes a nice story with likeable characters that readers will enjoy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was okay I really loved the Warrior series and I thought I'd give this one a go. The book itself is well written and has many positive messages. I found myself liking Shade and cheering on the little bat, maybe because he's a runt and is courageous despite the odds. I really liked how Oppel described the environment through the perspective of bats, specifically echolocation. A really cool way of approaching a story. That said the story started off pretty slow and was hard to get into. I almost put it down, but I'm glad I didn't because it does pick up the pace later on. Also I don't think the secondary characters are as well developed as the ones in his Airborne series. It's still a good read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Favorite! Another one of my favorite series, I watched the show as a kid and when I got older I found sunwing and firewing, so I went out and bought the first of the series and found the book was even better than I hoped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from favourite all time book and TVseries This book goes back to when I was in school. I first learned about it when I saw the television series, based off these books. I do like the book better, but hey, doesn't everyone? It's good for all ages (8+) and although it's not a phenomenal book, it's still a classic in my opinion, spawning a television series, two sequels and a prequel. Hey, if it can have its own television series, I'd say it's worth checking out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silverwing This book is awesome and I recommend it to any animal lovers!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great story Can't believe this has been out for so long and I never knew about it. I read it because my daughter was reading it in school, but I finished it because I loved the story and the characters!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One of the worst books I ever read! We read this book in school as a novel study, and I'll admit, at first it seemed like a good book. But after the first few chapters I was ready to rip my hair out. It was dragged out more than any book should be and some events happened that were almost identical. I should have known any book with talking animals should be bad. Unless you have a twisted taste in books, I would not recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filled with night and day Silver wing is amazing you can get a fell for the book and really know what is happening it has parts when shade is mad and times when shade is not doin anything. If you the warriors series you will like the silverwing series. (Make sure you read the series in order.)
