about

If you want to score, you have to get in the game...

The last thing Jenna Riley needs is more sports in her life. While her brothers are off being athletic superstars, she's stuck running the family's sports bar, whether she likes it or not. Then in walks pro hockey stud Tyler Anderson. As much as Jenna would like to go to the boards with him, she's vowed to never fall for a jock-even one as hot as Ty.

Ty, intrigued by the beautiful bar owner, becomes a regular. He senses that Jenna wants to do something more with her life. And as he gains her trust, the passion between them grows, as does Ty's insistence that Jenna should start living for herself. With his encouragement, Jenna starts to believe it, too...

But first, Jenna has to figure out what she wants, what she needs, who she loves, and if she has the passion and pride to take a shot at having it all-including Ty...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Taking a Shot (Play-by-Play #3) by Jaci Burton I just love this series. Give me a hot, erotic sports romance with a feisty heroine, a sexy, swoon-worthy hero, plenty of spicy dialogue, some terrific female bonding moments, the return of characters from the previous books, and most of all...a decent story, and I'm going to be all over it! This book was such an easy, enjoyable read. There were no slow spots, the dialogue flowed smoothly, the sex scenes didn't overwhelm the story, and the characters were fully fleshed out. There were plenty of details and no fillers. Everything made sense (except for some clunky descriptions regarding the hockey action). I loved seeing Mick and Tara, and Gavin and Liz again, and loved when Jenna got together with her two sisters-in-law for some heart-to-heart talks (some lol moments there). I wanted to keep turning the pages because I was curious to see how it would all play out. And when it ended, not only did I have a few tears in my eyes, but I was disappointed there wasn't more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ty was everything I hoped he would be Taking a Shot is the latest in Burton's Play by Play series. I found Ty very earnest and engaging. He was a refreshing hero. He had very little angst and he genuinely liked Jenna despite all her many faults. Jenna was my stumbling block in this story. I did not like her and to be honest I felt like Ty deserved better. She was on again off again, push him away then lure him back, I'm surprised he didn't have whiplash by the end of the book. Despite all her machinations he doesn't play games with her, he is exactly who he says he is and his tolerance of her game playing makes him a saint in my book. The Perfect Play is still my favorite in the series but Ty made Taking a Shot worth reading and he made a wonderful hero.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bring On The Sexy Skates The third book in the Play by Play series was great it had an awesome story line and I loved the characters. When I read the preview for this book in Changing The Game ( Book 2 ) I couldn't wait to get my hands on this addition to the series and of course I almost had a stroke knwing I had to wait another year befor it was released, but it was sooo worth the wait, Jaci Burton is getting better and better with each book, again the characters were great I thought Ty was a great lead and I really liked Jenna from the previouse books, I will also say it's nice seeing all of the other charaters from the first books all in love and gooey with eachother. Overall this was a great book and I'm very excited that the next in the series will be released this year. :0)
