If we’re obsessed with being thin more so than ever before, why are Americans stricken with heart disease as much as we were 30 years ago?

InThe China Study, Dr. T. Colin Campbell details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The report also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and opportunistic scientists. The New York Timeshas recognized the study as the “Grand Prix of epidemiology” and the “most comprehensive large study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease.”

The China Studyis not a diet book. Dr. Campbell cuts through the haze of misinformation and delivers an insightful message to anyone living with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and those concerned with the effects of aging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Information overload a good way! "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge". One of my favorite quotes that sums up books like The China Study. We must continue to learn from the experts like Dr. Campbell and stop listening to the marketing campaigns aimed at 1 goal ...separating you from your wallet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best nutrition book out there! I bought this book in July of 2015. Read through it once, then decided to read through it again and highlight important points. I have learned so much through this book and have referenced it many times. It explains the food industry and many in depth studies on nutrition done on both animals and humans, and how nutrition relates back to all the chronic illnesses we suffer from. Not a perspective we often hear from, and its refreshing to see someone write about nutrition in a way that not only goes against what society wants to believe but has in depth explanations into the studies and how they got to the conclusions that they did. It's an amazing read and i suggest everyone pick it up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eye Opener Diet plays a large role in our life and its time people realize the need to change to a plant base diet, less process food. I work in the health care field, and its alarming that most of the patients that come to the hospital are diagnosed with heart disease, elevated cholesterol and diabetes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from At last At last a nutritien book based on fact and not on "opinion science". I have read more than my share of nutition books, while most claim to be new and revealing science, end up being nothing more than yet anoth fad...this book outlines basic fundamental concepts based on research and inteligence. A must read for those who care about health.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only convincing health book out there It seems every diet has a new food that should be avoided. This diet said red meat will kill you, that diet said you should eat nothing but red meat. There is more confusion than actual truth. This book is the only health book I have read that has actual FACTS backed up by over 180 different studies, and they all show the same result, people are just afraid to accept it. I changed my eating habits after reading this book and feel healthier and more at ease with what I eat. This is the only book that will show you fact after fact that all point to one result that actually makes sense. I highly recommend reading this. Even though I was skeptical at first, by the end of the book I knew what I could do to improve my health with confidence. If you're looking for any recipe books to help with the change, I've tagged a great one with my review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BRILLIANT & DESPERATELY NEEDED This book is for those left brainers who need well documented information before making a dramatic shift in their dietary habits. I have never read such a comprehensive and entertaining book that provides our world with a true solution instead of flakey and fairy ideas that sound great but are not possible to apply. Dr. Campbell is a well renowned scientist and has hit the nail on the head with this book. I've been relatively healthy my whole life, but it was not until I came across this work that I became passionate about nutrition without being paranoid. This book won't try to "sell" you a diet pill, potion or a magical herb. It will give you simple tested principles that if applied on a broad scale have the potential to raise the level of health of our desperately ill society. If you currently suffer from health problems, or even if you think you are healthy, you can still optimize your health with this information. I only have two critiques: 1. Due to the heavy research oriented nature of the topic and Dr. Campbell's life, the book can come across as quite "sciencey" to a lot of people that I have recommended it to you. That's not a bad thing, it just means that the average person who doesn't have some sort of nutrition or research knowledge may find it hard to get through in some parts. Just SKIP the heavy parts, and use the conclusions they come to :) 2.Again, because of the excellent documentation in the can be quite long. Overall, it's a great book for any good library to have if you are at all interested in the link between Optimal health and Diet. Enjoy the read and thanks for reading my review. CB

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting and important, but entirely accurate I like hearing the whole story and apparently Campbell has played fast and loose with his data. I suspect he's an impressive scientist but appears to be lacking on statistical interpretations and analysis. For one view of the other side:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Absolutey Fasinating Read An Absolutely Fabulous and Informative Read By Diane Di Florio New Member October 21, 2007 - 3:59 pm I have practiced a vegan diet for 1 1/2 years now. I have read many excellent books about diet association and health. Until now, I fully understand the association between what we eat and disease. T. Colin Campbell is a brilliant writer and he tells it as it is. His many years of study and research are well documented and referenced. It is easy to follow and makes perfect sense. It's about time someone put it in these terms that will help people understand the implications of eating animal protein. This has to be the most informative, interesting and in many ways frightening book I've ever read. I think everyone should read this for their own health. I've recommended it to my own personal physician. I came away with more knowledge and power over my own well being. Recommended Titles: [DETAILS]Your Tags:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I have been reading books on health and nutrition for years now. Most books tell me what to eat for proper nutrition. The China Study is the first book I have read that really gave me the "WHY" I should be eating a whole foods, plant based diet. The book also provided me with more insight into the corruption in government regarding the food industry and the power of money. I will be putting this book in the hands of many. Oprah should have T. Colin Campbell on her show and maybe North America will stand up and take notice.

Forget about fad diets and supplements, "The China Study" will convince you to change the way you eat and live. He cites his own extensive work and many other studies that show a plant-based, low cholesterol diet will protect you from several cancers, diabetes, obesity and many other Western ills. . There is nothing "faddish" about this work, just good solid research. This book has the potential to change your life and your health forever. Read it.
