Rated 4 out of 5 by from Playfully Entertaining This was the first book of Heyer's that I have read. I found this book on a list of author's similar to Jane Austen, one of the reviewers was appalled that The Grand Sophy would be compared to a Jane Austen novel since this book was purely playful entertainment. I was intrigued, found it, read it and loved it. Yes it is playful and entertaining which was exactly the kind of book I was in the mood for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Favourite This book was my introduction to Georgette Heyer, and it was excellent! It has everything a Jane Austen book could offer, plus the typical Heyer style: a strong leading lady who can wield a gun; hilarious passive-aggressive conversation; and a strong dose of comedy. I highly recommend this book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Read My favourite author for light reading. Her novels let me peep into Victorian England, the romance of it and the underlying class distinctions without getting too heavy or boring.
