Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautifully written This is a fantastic book. I originally read this book in grade 8 and liked it, I picked it up again in my 20's and have an entirely new appreciation for it. Personally, I think the 9-12 years suggested reading age is a little off the mark. The story is set in 1968 and makes heavy references to integration and the draft, references that held a lot more significance to me at 24 than they did at 13. While I definitely recommend this book and do not wish to discourage anyone thinking of buying it for a 9-12 year old, I would suggest it more for the 13-17 age group.
