This book is about unraveling the layers of our lives, delving beneath the surface in order to better understand ourselves, our relationships, and our path. Author Susannah Conway uncovered this process following a tragedy-the sudden death of the man she loved. In sharing her journey of self-discovery first through her blog, then her online courses, and now in these pages, she reveals how grief reshaped her life and led her to reconnect with her creativity, make peace with her past, and learn to appreciate herself. This is a guidebook of sorts, a collection of thoughts and theories, each chapter culminating in a small creative exercise for the reader to reflect upon and apply to her own life. The author's signature dreamy Polaroid images are also included throughout. Conway reminds readers that they are not alone, that living mindfully is a process, and that unraveling is not about coming undone or losing control, but rather letting go in the best possible way. By untangling the knots that hold you back, unearthing the potential that's always been there and ditching the labels and should-haves you can let yourself be who you were always meant to be.
Susannah Conway is a photographer, writer and the creator of the Unravelling e-courses. A Polaroid addict and a very proud aunt, she spent many years in London working as a fashion editor and freelance journalist. She shares her heart with people around the world via her blog at

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genuine, Beautifully Written, Deeply Moving In this book Susannah opens her heart and shares the journey she embarked upon in the wake of shattering, excruciating grief. She focusses on the transformative power of her grief, rather than the grief itself. She focusses on the many ways in which she had to unravel herself, because, when something tragic and traumatic occurs in your life, all the other hurts and wounds come flowing through that rip in your soul. Healing takes time, and patience. There is no shortcut. The only way is through. With the knowledge that one day ... one day, you'll find yourself far enough from the initial blast that you can really see. The book is punctuated by reflections at the end of each chapter, as well as her trademark dreamy photography. This is a truly brilliant and beautiful book by a brilliant and beautiful woman.

Editorial Reviews

"Susannah Conway's new book works magic: it meets us in our darkest moments-of grief, shame, hopelessness-and shows us how to transform them into love, creativity, and confidence. Written with tenderness, filled with gorgeous images and helpful exercises, she reminds us that the beauty we seek is always right in front of our eyes." --Susan Piver, author of The Wisdom of a Broken Heart "You hold in your hand one of those books. You will buy multiple copies of it to press into the hands of friends. You will mark it up with notes, and read passages again and again. You will not lend this out. This book was forged in grief and is lit by love. Feast your creative heart!"--Jennifer Louden, author of The Life Organizer and The Woman's Comfort Book"Reading Susannah's words feels like spending time with a perfect friend-the kind who mixes mojitos as she listens to your dreams, laughs and cries with you, and most of all, persuades you that YOU CAN DO IT! I lost count of the times I was inspired to put it down to take a photograph or to write in my journal. I'm still bowled over by the generosity of this book." ---Sarah Salway, Canterbury Laureate and author of You Do Not Need Another Self-Help Book
