Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife-between desire and danger.Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
Stephenie Meyer is the author of the #1 bestselling Twilight Saga andThe Host. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English literature, and she lives with her husband and three young sons in Arizona.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Had some decent moments, but tough to get through I really had to push myself to finish this book, I could not wrap my head around it the way its die-hard fans did. While Stephenie Meyer’s take on vampires is intriguing, Bella was too boring and Edward was too perfect for them to be relatable characters. While I normally enjoy the paranormal teen genre, the story wasn’t for me. It did have a few decent moments, like when Jacob tells Bella some of the Quilyeute legends and the part where the Cullens play baseball. Just an okay read in my opinion.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay To be completely honest the first book was not what I expected, might be because I watched the movies first. I just don't like Bella's character in the books but Jacob is SO much better in the books! #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it! Would recommend this book for teens and adults. It is easy to get lost in the captivating love story between Bella and Edward. This novel will not disappoint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Much better then the movie I really enjoyed it the first time I read it, and as I said it's infinitely better then the movie. I've read it multiple times now though, and I can definitely say it loses some of it's appeal over time. Not a bad book, but not my favorite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Story I read this book about a month ago and it was a good thing I did. Twilight is a suspenseful novel and will open your mind to an undying love story between a human and a vampire (Bella and Edward). This book is a great read for teens and it's perfect for someone who's looking for a good novel to read. I would recommend this novel to friends, family, and even strangers! Read this amazing book to find out what happens!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ... I remember reading it and thinking it was SO good but that was when I was still a teenager and now looking back it's really nothing special. Definitely over hyped. Still a good series overall though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect I gave this series to my teen sister as a gift after hearing how much my mom loved it, and my sister fell totally in love! She couldn't put the books down and became totally addicted to what is now her favorite series

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved This Series This was one of my absolute favourite books and series as a teenager! It combined my love for fantasy and cute teenage romance stories perfectly. Definitely a defining series of my early teenage years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't really understand the hype I love reading, I love vampires, and I could not stand this book. I hate to hate or dislike a book because I appreciate books so much and all the hard work it takes to create them. However, I have tried numerous times to get into this book and every time it is just a huge bore. I didn't connect with any character and the book itself is very poorly written. Maybe if I had read the other books? Not sure why there is so much hype behind these books. I wouldn't recommend these books in general, but to somebody who really loved the books it would be good.
Date published: 2017-08-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Twilight I don’t understand the need to take this so seriously, to talk like the characters needed to be role models, as if the girls and women who read this aren’t intelligent enough to realize it’s just fiction it’s not a guide for how to live their actual lives, sometimes it’s okay for a book to just be fun entertainment, it feels like we’re in danger of forgetting that. #plumreview

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't really like it I don't know why the first book is known as the best out of the series, its really not. I prefer the second book, "New Moon" which so much better. You might like it, but it wasn't really that good. I recommend to just watch the first movie or read the graphic novel, then read the second, third, and fourth book. If you loved this book, don't read "Life and death: Twilight reimagined". Its not worth your time, or your money to buy. If you plan on watching the movies after reading the series,, I'm telling you now, that "Twilight" and "Breaking Dawn part one" are the worst in the movie franchise, and just stick to the books/graphic novels. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book! I found this book to be a real page turner and so hard to put down! I love the romance in this book! Certainly worth reading, especially if you are a teen or young adult (or even adult!).
Date published: 2017-08-04
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope. Only got "into" reading this because EVERYONE was reading it back when I was in high school. I held off for a long time but eventually gave in and read it. Wish I hadn't given in to what was "popular" and just ignored it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The start of the Vampire Craze when twilight came out, vampires were seen as scary and evil, but that changed. Vampires became brooding and dark and mysterious. This started the craze many teenage girls went through. That being said, twilight is an alright book. better than the movie by far
Date published: 2017-08-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than the movie! When the Twilight craze first started after the movie was released, I really didn't know what all the fuss was about since the movie was so terrible. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the book!
Date published: 2017-08-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE LOVE LOVE This is absolutely my favorite book/ series. The amount of passion and love between the two main charters is so strong and portrayed beautifully by the author. These books have kept me on my toes between conflicts in the story.

Date published: 2017-07-21
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh I couldn't really connect with Bella. She's always apologizing for things that aren't her fault. Also Edward is incredibly jealous and controlling. Not a relationship young girls should aspire to be in.
Date published: 2017-07-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice book It was an okay book, but it's a great romance series to read
Date published: 2017-07-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as bad as it's made out to be I read this a long time ago when a friend loaned it to me, I took it for what it was, a teenage fluff book, not terrible but not good either, I stayed away from the movie and the craze that surrounded this though
Date published: 2017-07-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the movie Finished it in one sitting. much better than the movie.
Date published: 2017-07-14
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ambivalent. I certainly do not understand the phenomenal success this book has had but it remains an enjoyable read for young adults. As far as writing and plot go, this is not a very imaginative book but in the end it seems to have reached a huge readership. Obviously then, its themes and tropes appealed to some.
Date published: 2017-07-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loove There were some parts of the story that just seemed to drag on, but overall, I loved the story. It was almost impossible to put the book down.

Date published: 2017-06-12
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not that great I did not find much development nor found myself intrigued by the characters. The story itself is kind of intriguing, but I had more issues with the characters. I myself wouldn't want someone watching me all night on a regular basis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made Me Read Again This is my absolute favourite series. After not reading for years I picked this book up and couldn't put it down! It resurfaced my love of reading!! XO thank you Stephenie Meyer

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great read! bought these when twilight was first coming out on movie and loved them!! slightly different than the movies but a goodread neverless
Date published: 2017-06-05
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought this at the recommendation of a friend. Don't waste the money! The book is badly written with an unoriginal plot. The characters are two dimensional, and Edward is a joke.
Date published: 2017-06-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It Will you all hate me if I say that I love this book? Well that's too bad. As much as these books are criticized and judged, there is a reason that so many people (namely women) have read and enjoyed this series. It's interesting and captivating and I'm going to continue re-reading it no matter how much hate I get.
Date published: 2017-06-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just An Opinion! The books were so much better then the movies, and they catch your attention. Not the best review, but its definitely worth the read. The other ones are to, found it difficult to put the book down to go to bed when I was reading them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A 10 year long overdue review I remember reading this book ten years ago and I fell in love with it! The movie definitely didn't do it justice... or even close. However I remember being really immersed in it :)

Date published: 2017-05-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible!!! Apparently, I was living under a rock because I didn't read this book until all the movies had come out and I was expecting a really bloody story filled with action and vampires. That being said, I was really surprised that it was a love story but I still enjoyed it immensely! I couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next.
Date published: 2017-05-17
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Was okay. It was worth reading, but I don't think I would ever read it again. It was the beginning of supernatural stories, and so was a bit unique. I'm not sure how much it would stand up now with the environment inundated with vampires. Story was okay. Easy, interesting-ish read.
Date published: 2017-05-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good for a teenage story Stephenie Meyer... I think she is a terrific story teller but not the greatest writer of all time, although she has gotten better over time. There were times in this book (and her others) where I was nauseated by the excessive romance. However I do love a good romance story and this is one of them. I could really relate to Bella as I feel that I used to be very much like her in so many ways when I was her age. I've since grown and developed better boundaries and more self worth but people seem to forget that she is really young in this book and her immaturity in romance is very understandable and realistic for her type of personality. Kudos to Stephenie Meyer for writing such impact-full books.

Date published: 2017-04-21
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure what all the hype is about. I cannot say that this book is horrible, its an average one time read. Therefore I am not sure what all the craze around it is. However what I can say is that it is very poorly written with many grammatical errors.
Date published: 2017-04-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for teens Good book for teens. I really liked this one, and got through part of the second book. Never finished after that though. If you're into fiction, it's a good one for you.

Date published: 2017-04-12
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This book made me fall in love with reading I think all the hype about the movie franchise kind of ruined the book. If by any miracle you have not yet seen any of the movies, I think you would like to give he book a try. This series made me fall in love with reading, and I never stopped reading since.
Date published: 2017-04-12
Rated 2 out of 5 by from I thought the books were okay, but not worth the hype. I borrowed this book from a friend, but I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. A lot of people I knew said the books were amazing, but I just cannot agree. I found the first half of the book very dry and slow. The second half of the book was decently better.
Date published: 2017-04-10
Rated 3 out of 5 by from was an okay book I was interested in this book when everyone was loving it but after all the popularity went down from this book I realized it wasn't the best

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truly enjoyed this series I read this years ago and truly truly enjoyed it. I rushed out and bought them as they became available - its not perfection but the magic is in the story telling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My review from 10 years ago I first read Twilight 10 years ago and I absolutely loved it. Of course, after it became more popular and got hyped up cause of the movies and all, I started thinking less of it simply because the hype DID overhype it. But my unbiased opinion, knowing nothing about it before reading it, was that it was a great book. Stephenie Meyer really keeps you longing for the next page - I couldn't put it down.
Date published: 2017-03-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good book This book isn't over-the-top amazing, but it's not as bad as a lot of people say it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved this book! I would recommend this this book to anyone from 12-40! This book is very relatable to anyone that reads it an it was a pleasure to read.
Date published: 2017-03-26
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Twilight This is the first book in the series and I think it is the best one.
Date published: 2017-03-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My unbiased opinion from 10 years ago It's hard to rate this book now when the first time I read it was 10 years ago. When I read it, it was still relatively unknown in comparison to what it was when the first movie came out, etc, so I read it with no expectations whatsoever - and I absolutely loved it. I now see some flaws since it has become so overrated with all the hype surrounding it. But my first read of it was unbiased, and that is what I am basing this review on. It's well written and it keeps you longing for more, it's a complete page turner and it made me feel every emotion that was written. I also became very attached to the characters. As a book, it did its job well.
Date published: 2017-03-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I cannot express my obsession with this series! If you love romance novels and you haven't read Twilight yet, do it! Seriously, you won't regret it. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise -- hater's goanna hate. #Plumreview

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Conflicted it's not the greatest book out there and it has many faults but there's a reason it sold so well. I hate the movies and I hate Bella, but the book entertained me and high school me use to love it. If your gonna go buy it, get it at a second hand store at least where you'll pay maybe $15 for the whole series because it' not worth retail price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Nothing spectacular but you will be entertained enough to finish
Date published: 2017-03-23
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I tried I have absolutely no clue how grown adults can have been enthralled by this book. If i read "i'm no good for you" one more time i'd scream. That, and how he sparkled LOL omg. I also couldn't deal with Bella and how much of a poor self esteem she had. Plot is so dull and dialogue even worse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love became like I was obsessed with this series as a teenager and I loved it so much. As a adult I still acknowledge it as a part of my youth but it just doesn't give me the same feelings. I enjoyed the series as a whole and I really liked this first one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing After seeing the movie, I had to read the book. Books are always so much better. And I was right. I couldn't put it down. I loved it!
Date published: 2017-03-18
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Oh, where to begin? How about the beginning? The opening narrative begins with Bella, whining about she had to sacrifice her happiness because she is leaving Sunny Florida for gloomy gray Washington state, all because she wants to let her mother be happy with her new beau, even though she outright states that they would be happy to have her stay with them, instead of her moving in with her estranged father. And the plot just gets duller with the main character whining about this or that. Even at the climax of the novel, when our hearts should be pounding in our throughts, wondering if our heroine will survive, I was wondering if this book would ever end so I could do more exciting things, like changing the litter box.

Date published: 2017-03-15
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely Not Despite its widespread popularity and over hype about it, I cannot fathom why people think this book is so good. True, it does have all of the typical cliches that you would expect to see in a YA novel, but the fact that this specific novel garnered so much attention is still a mystery. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that people will come out of reading this book thinking that Edward and Bella's relationship is a perfectly healthy one, when in reality their relationship is the exact opposite. In addition to a plot that seems to be haphazardly thrown together around the central three way love triangle, it's not worth the time or money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from awful I was a huge fan as a kid, had all the posters movies and books and I wish i could go back and save all the money i had wasted on this shit show of a series. The story is boring and predictable, it is unoriginal. It was awful and an utter waste of time
Date published: 2017-02-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from better than the movie I had never heard of twilight until my cousin wanted to see the movie with me. Saw the movie so I bought the books. The books are much better. There is much more to the relationship development than in the movie. I couldn't put the book down. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed feelings As a teenager, I loved the book. However, it is not the most well written book. It has a vague plot that shifts towards the end of the book which is kind of weird.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Enjoyable Okay, I have to say that I liked this book. It really doesn't deserve all of the hate it gets. The love aspect was pretty well done, and the characters were pretty solid and believable. For people who say that it's cliche, that's not really fair. At the time it came out, the vampire/human love thing was a pretty knew concept. Now, yes this book has vampires, but for those of you who prefer the traditional types, look elsewhere. These vampires sparkle, yes, I don't love it either, but it fits amazingly with the story. After all, it's a romance. For those of you who don't like romance, it's not overwhelming. It's always there, but it's not completely in your face, there is other stuff that happens. I loved this book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I was not much of a reader, but when I started reading this series I was obsessed, I love these books, and suggest it to anyone with a teen that is not really into reading, from love, to vampires and werewolves it's a great read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this! Read this when it first came out but it's still a book I love to go back to. It is kind of cheesy and some aspects may seem a little silly but if you're a fan of the supernatural and teen romances then this is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyable An easy and enjoyable read. I normally try to avoid books with tons of hype like this one, but I couldn't help myself. It really is an excellent book, with a great story line and characters that you feel attached to right from the get-go.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good It was a good book, not great, but good. The Bella and Edward are cute together, however the story is a little too far fetched for my taste, not realistic at all but if you're a hopeless romantic with a love for vampire books this is completely for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Captivating! This by far is one of my most favorite reads, simply because once you start reading its impossible to put down. I am in favor of the books more so over the movies, which I find to be a bit childish. I would recommend this to even adults. Great read by Stephanie Meyer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worth A Read Not the best but still worth a read, some really interesting concepts but aside from sparkly skin there is nothing original. I would still recommend this book especially to a younger audience that aren't quite ready for Anne Rice

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WHAT? I didn't understand it. There were moments where nothing was happening- main characters sitting in class- and for some reason it was a bid deal. There wasn't any real communication between the characters, just Bella's inner dialogue and a few words here and there. I couldn't get into it. I didn't relate to any of the characters at all and whilst reading it's the easiest thing in the world to make a best friend or find a soulmate- it wasn't the case for this book. Sometimes I felt like I was reading a magazine. It just wasn't for me. Not really into romance though, if you are you might like it. #plumreview

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terribly weak plot There is way too many things to say but I could not possibly fit them all in here. I read it just to see if it was as bad as people say it is. I'd say the internet overexaggerates but I still find it disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Entertaining I bought this book a while ago to see what the hype was about, and can honestly say that the book is an entertaining read. It is easy to picture yourself in the role of Bella as she meets these mystical creatures and discovers teen romances

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty Decent Wanted to find out what all the hype was about, so I gave it a shot and was surprisingly sucked in! lol...would recommend the book over the movie!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great read Though the story is not entirely unique, nor the quality of writing mind blowing, this book is a great read. The story draws you in and is easy to follow. I found myself reading each of the books in this series in 2 days or less, simply because I was enjoying the read (as a teenager). The movie was catastrophic, but the character development in the novels gives the story more depth and understanding- for the target audience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it. I will admit I watched the movie first. The movie did not do the book any justice. I was hooked after this book because I purchased the remaining books for the series immediately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Terrible themes throughout this book - obsession, stalking, manipulation. Shallow and selfish protagonists; female characters written as helpless and silly damsels in distress. Poor writing, dreadful grammar. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great FIRST book of the series This was the only one that got me hooked, I tried to read the other novels in the series and was really disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope. I first read Twilight when I was about 10. At the time, I thought it was great; it's every preteen girl's favourite romance. But after that age, you just kind of realize... why on earth did I read that? That's how I felt when I dusted it off after 6 years on the shelf, just to see how things had changed. For a preteen girl, it's reasonably enjoyable, but there are definitely much better books to read. It's not well-written, and the main character is bland, as is the story (the dialogue is also very cringey and not realistic at ALL). Still, I can't completely trash the book; it targets its demographic well-enough. In other words: for 10 to 14 year old's, I guess Twilight's an alright book... but even then, you're better off searching for another teenage romance novel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad... Not one of my all time favourites but it is still worth reading.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh Alright, admittedly I only got into the Twilight series a few years back as a pre-teen girl due to a fad that had been going around. Stephanie Meyer is not a bad author. In fact, I still enjoy her other book called The Host. One thing I will say is that a lot of the negative reviews are based off the movies. The books are thousands of times better than the film adaptations, but they nevertheless leave much to be desired. I didn't feel the characters to be very engaging or the plot very unique. Awkward girl meets got guy in a high school setting, awkward girl gets said guy's attention, yada yada yada. I'll pass next time.
