Rated 3 out of 5 by from Informitive Has a lot of information on wheat and grains and how and why they are bad for us, the book also details the history of wheat and how it has changed from a healthy grain to a not great grain. The book helps you to understand why we gain weight and have blood sugar control issues if we base most of our diet on this grain.

While it is interesting I am finding it a bit technical and need to flip back to read up on the scientific names for sugar etc. I need a little cheat sheet. Very interesting content though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eye-opening! Everyone needs to read this book. It is so eye-opening! By eliminating wheat mostly off of my diet, I have lost weight. But most importantly, I feel A LOT better in all other aspects other than physically. I think clearer, and feel less sick to my stomach. LOVE Mr. Davis' powerful illustrations, and hard facts. You can't deny the truth when you test it out for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worth your consideration given what we have been taught with the Canada food guide. There is some good anecdotal evidence here from his patients that makes his approach worth trying. Having said that, a correlative relationship is not always a causal one and I find that he presents some chapters without solid evidence. Yes, some people do better with their diabetes, autoimmune disorders and mental health without wheat. For others it makes little difference. In my case, it did. My brother read this 4 years ago and recommended I go without wheat. I started then. I don't have a weight loss story to report (I am already a slight build and very active) but I will say that 90% of the IBS I've struggled with since I was a teenager (currently 43) disappeared. I stopped getting rashes, having allergies to all sorts of things I had been told were "adult onset", my skin improved and so did my sleep. Every now and then I have something with a bit of wheat again because I am at someone's home or travelling and the havoc on my stomach lasts about 3 days. It gets to the point where it's just not worth it. Note: I was repeatedly tested for celiacs and it came back negative (before I dropped wheat). This helped me. It's really not impossible once you get past the first week or two. I'm just just not as hungry when I eat less carbohydrates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lost my belly eating like my Grandparents did years ago "Asian foods wheat free" I'm eating brown rice, quinoa, ground flax, nuts, seeds, legumes, unlimited vegetables with complete nutrition, fruits, sea vegetables, probiotics and mostly organic as much as possible. Asian countries survived for generations without wheat. I feel healthier and I don't miss eating wheat , sugar, processed boxed or bagged products any more. I do not purchase boxed or packed shelf products that claim to be gluten free either. I eat fresh foods that need to be refridgerated that don't have a scanner barcode . There are many other books by MD doctors who also support eating less processed boxed fake "foods" containing wheat, preservatives, coloring, additives and man made chemicals.

It is more likely people feel better or lose weight because they are watching what their eating and how much overall.

I do however monitor the unhealthy foods I put into my body and have not touched wheat in over eight months. After reading chapter one I was already convinced. I feel less mood swings, I am a happier being for real!! I do not feel in a fog or like I need to fight the world all the time. I did have to quit sugar as well as I am addicted to it and found every dessert chocolate and candy that did not have wheat in it and ate it. The extra added benefit for me is that I have lost 20 pounds and do not struggle to keep it off. I like that William Davis is an MD and practices what he preaches.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit of an extreme POV Certainly raises some valid points about genetically modified foot, and many people do feel better when cutting back on grains. However, it feels like every 2nd line of this book is overly dramatic about the effect wheat has on health. While it may even be true, the manner in which it is presented is overkill. The recipes at the back sound good though and I'm going to try them. You could probably learn all you really need to know from just purchasing the cookbook and reading the beginning of that.

I was raised on a German diet-breaded everything covered in gluten sauce with a side of bread and cake for desert with a beer to wash it down. The only time in my life I felt close to healthy was when I was on a low carb diet. I have had "in curable" psoriasis since I was 10, years of problems with gall stones (since I was15 until gall bladder removal at 25), several episodes of kidney stones (starting at 28 until my late 30's), high blood pressure, incredible aches and pains with no apparent cause, and debilitating migraines. And not to forget my lifelong battle with my weight. I tested positive for gluten sensitivity after reading a magazine article about a woman with similar symptoms. i removed gluten from my diet and moved into a whole new wonderful world and a much better quality of life! My life long psoriasis disappeared within a few days. Returning only when I "cheated" and ate a cracker or a bowl of breakfast cereal. But gone agin when maintaining a gluten free diet. One particular chapter in this book described everything my father lived through with his steady diet of bread or wheat products in every snack and meal - obesity, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, dementia and recently died from stomach cancer. Wheat and all other gluten products are toxic poisons that effect us physically and mentally. Remove gluten and celebrate your new life, the way it should be!!!! Thank you Dr. Davis!!!!!!!!!!!
