He joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Verdun, France from 1959 to May of 1962. His MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) was Photo-Lab Technician which he enjoyed. He used his leave time to travel in Europe and created images of the many varied people as he traveled. For the most part he created images of people rather than the many structures that were photographed by most tourist. By doing this he inadvertently saw he was creating images as a photojournalist of sorts. This was the inspiration for him to create this book with the first few pages, which are black and white photographs, that he personally processed.

Later in 2015, he happen to view these images, after a time, that were at rest in storage boxes on his back porch. Then he decided to create a book of images from these photographs. He then included some of his current images which were created as a freelance newspaper photographer for the Northwest Indiana Times Newspaper. Just a few of the photographs, “Model Portfolios,” are posed. Most of the images taken are people that were “A Captured Moment,” in being themselves. This is how he created his images with his Nikon D3s camera. By creating these images he is showing us how we all are individual people in the family of man.
