Rated 5 out of 5 by from Find Your Inner Traveler I recently attended Ed Gagnon's book signing for A Casual Traveler and promptly began reading it as soon as I returned home. I love to travel but follow where most people go. With my husband we go to the usual resorts in the islands, staying at well known resorts...relaxing but boring.... so I wanted to see what a real traveler found exciting, relaxing, wonderful and places that would take your breath away along with the everyday fun adventures and miss adventures and this book A Casual Travelerdid not disappoint. From the character's Ed Gagnon met to the moments that took his breath away this book is one great adventure after another. It takes you off the beaten path through the U.S., to Mexico, Cambodia, Hanoi Viet Nam, and Thailand to name a few (these are the places I now want to travel to). The people he meets come to life in his story telling because he lived it, and it is not hard to imagine the things he sees from landscape to waterfalls. It was the advertising of this book that caught my attention, the quote from the author Ed Gagnon which states "If you want a great vacation, go to an All-Inclusive Resort." "If you want a great travel experience, go anywhere else." I found this profound and true. After reading this amazing book I want to take my next vacation off the beaten path and go "anywhere else". This book was hard to put down and I have revisited some of the stories trying to find my "inner casual traveler". Where will I go next. I highly recommend this book.
