This journal shares fruitful reflections on life and career prompted by the author's visit to her personal place of retreat near her country home.
Madeline L'Engle, the popular author of many books for children and adults, has interspersed her writing and teaching career with raising three children, maintaining an apartment in New York and a farmhouse of charming confusion which is called "Crosswicks."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Memoir I thoroughly enjoyed reading Madeleine L'Engle's memoir about living at her "Crosswicks" home. But there is so much more in here than that. It reads more like a series of interconnected personal essays; that is, the book is joined together by ideas more than anything, even while detailing some of her time at Crosswicks. I particularly enjoyed reading about her writing process, including her writing of, and difficult time finding a publisher for, "A Wrinkle in Time."
