Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfort for the loss of Pebbs n Joe. I wS reading this before Pebbs died and finished if a week after Joe died as well. I'd like to think that when i get home they along with all our fur babies will bd there to meet me. I will always miss them. I hope they know his much i love them and Monkey, Opey, Skippy, Tinker, Tramp, Boots, Boot's Twin, Patchy, Blackie, Roxy, Peter, Pepper, Honey Cat, Jonathan, Sylvia , Princess, Prince, Ceelah, Thumper, and Chinchi, Plugly ugly the first and second. This was hard to read during this grief but a fantastic read. Thanks to Heather for recommending it. I still can't believe both Joe and Pebbs are gone home so close to each other. In some strange way, while i may not agree with the "coming back" each time i found this book to bring a new perspective to the relationship between fur baby and parent. I hope I'm a little wiser and learned what Pebbs and Joe tried to teach me whole they were here. For surely i learned infinitely now from them than i could ever hope to teach them. They came already knowing what they needed. Miss you all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tied for 1st place for Best Dog Book Ever! I read this book in a couple of days I couldn't stop reading it! Although there were several very sad parts, there were also many funny and happy parts, and I wanted to continue reading to find out what was going to happen with the dog next! I enjoyed A Dog's Purpose, and this was just as good, with a really nice ending. :) It is an insightful and meaningful story from a dog's point of view.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from KEEP THE TISSUE BOX HANDY In this sequel to A Dog’s Purpose we rejoin Buddy in his quest to find his purpose for being a “good dog”. He thinks he has fulfilled it after finding “his boy” Ethan again and is waiting patiently for his sleep to come, sure that he will not be reborn as a puppy again. Then Charity comes into his life and he realizes that she definitely needs a dog to look out for her. Coming back as Molly the two are miraculously reunited and the reader follows along on their journey together. For anyone who has not read A Dog’s Purpose you should know that the dog narrates these stories. Between snickers of amusements and bouts of tears I managed to get to the end of this book. Often sequels fall short of the first book, but I found this one equal to (dare I even say it … if not better than) the first. I enjoy characters that “I love to hate” and this book had that too. For anyone who loves dogs this is a must read, so grab the box of tissue, a cup of coffee and lose yourself in this book for a little while.

Read from the Book

A DOG’S JOURNEY (CHAPTER 1)As I sat in the sun on the wooden dock that jutted out into the pond, I knew this to be true: my name was Buddy, and I was a good dog.The fur on my legs was as black as the rest of me, but down at my paws it had, over time, become tinged with white. I had lived a long and full life with a boy named Ethan, spending many lazy afternoons on this very dock, here on the Farm, enjoying a swim or barking at the ducks. This was the second summer without Ethan. When he died I felt a pain inside me much sharper than any other I’d ever felt. Now the pain was less, more like a stomachache, but I still felt it all the time. Only sleep soothed it away—in my sleep, Ethan ran with me through my dreams.I was an old dog and knew that someday soon a much deeper sleep would come, as it had always come for me before. It came for me when I was named Toby, in my silly first life, when I had no real purpose but to play with other dogs. It came for me when I was named Bailey, when I first met my boy and loving him became my whole focus. It came for me when I was Ellie, when my job was to Work, to Find people, and to Save them. So when the deeper sleep came for me next, at the end of this life, as Buddy, I felt sure that I would not live again, that I had fulfilled my purpose and there was no reason for me to be a dog anymore. So whether it happened this summer or the next didn’t matter. Ethan, loving Ethan, was my ultimate purpose, and I had done it as well as I could. I wa
