The book also includes numerous charts illustrated by Rauh, an illustrated key, and an illustrated glossary. Photographs to help in identifying winter rosettes of some species are also provided. 

Carol Levine is an instructor in field botony at the New York Botanical Garden. She also has been an instructor in botany at the University of Connecticut, Stamford branch, and at the University of Connecticut's Bartlett Arboretum.
