Thirteen-year-old foster kid Skye Nicholson has become an expert at being an angry, cold, and defensive teenager. After breaking more foster home placements than she cares to count, and committing numerous offenses, she's headed to her final resort - juvenile detention. But after a court compromise, hope finds her through a beautiful sorrel quarter horse named Champ and the tough love of Tom and Eileen Chamber, who offer her another chance at their home at Keystone Stables. There she's introduced to a God who has the power to truly save her, no matter how much she thinks she's not worth saving.
Marsha Hubler is a homeschool consultant, evaluator, and educator specializing in elementary education and learning disabilities. She and her husband, Richard, were foster parents to countless children for more than eleven years. They live in Middleburg, Pennsylvania.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Series! I love this series (I've read the first four and I still want to collect the rest)! It is easy to quickly fall in love with the defiant, yet scared, Skye and to appreciate the love showered upon her by the Chambers, even if Skye doesn't like it. This Christian series deals with issues that would be considered "taboo" by some within Christian circles (underage drinking, kids doing drugs, defiance to authority) in a clean and meaningful way, resolving issues in a pure and healthful way.
