about

Inspired by Victor Hugo's classic, Les Miserables, the heartbreaking story of street girl Eponine.

Paris, 1832

A girl lies alone in the darkness, clutching a letter to her heart.

Eponine remembers being a child: her swing and the peach tree, and the baby brother she loved. But mostly she remembers being miserable. Taught to lie and cheat, and to hate the one girl, Cosette, who might have been her friend.

Now, at sixteen, the two girls meet again, and Eponine has one more chance. But what is the price of friendship-the love of a boy?

Susan Fletcher is the author of several books for adults, including Eve Green, which won a Whitbread First Novel Award in the United Kingdom. A Little in Love is her first book for young adults. Susan lives in England. You can follow her on Twitter at @sfletcherauthor

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is by far the best book I have ever read! This book is the best one I've read yet. The author gives great detail in their description and you can really picture all of the settings and characters. This book has so many interesting twists and turns and really makes it hard to put it down. I love how the author uses french words in the book to really give you that romantic feel in the book. The only thing that I don't like about the author is that they don't have any more books out yet!!! I am really anxious to see if the author does put out any more great books like this. She is now my favourite author by far.

" Her prose is extraordinarily lyrical: haunted, dreamlike and precise . . . Fletcher's words are undeniably beautiful and her themes are profound." -The Sunday Times (UK)
