about

NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES

Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent children. They are charming, and resourceful, and have pleasant facial features. Unfortunately, they are exceptionally unlucky.

In the first two books alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, a lumpy bed, a deadly serpent, a large brass reading lamp, a long knife, and a terrible odour.

In the tradition of great storytellers, from Dickens to Dahl, comes an exquisitely dark comedy that is both literary and irreverent, hilarious and deftly crafted. Never before has a tale of three likeable and unfortunate children been quite so enchanting, or quite so uproariously unhappy.

Lemony Snicket is often despondent, mostly about his published research, which includes A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Composer Is Dead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fabulous Series I'm usually not a fan of soft covers, but I adore the new art on the covers of these re-releases, and am adding them to my shelf beside the classic hardcovers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very enjoyable I liked some of the happiness some of this book brought, although like the entire series, it was still pretty grim. Still a page turner though and it's definitely worth it to continue the series!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite series! I started reading these books in elementary school and continued reading into my teenage years. Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket can twist and play with words like no other and his style is a delight to read. Although the unfortunate events are numerous, this is more than a depressing read. The Baudelaires are truly resilient and it's inspiring and comforting all at once. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great What an endearing series! I loved reading this when I was younger and I still enjoy this as a light read once in a while. It is a great way to get younger children into reading and this was personally one of my favourites in the series.
