Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Really Liked It "A Very Jaguar Christmas" by Terry Spear. Book 5 in the Heart of the Jaguar series. I really enjoyed this book about Everett and Demetria. This book opens a whole new dynamic to not just the Heart of the Jaguar series but also the Heart of the Wolf series as well. Just a bit of background... Ms. Spear has several shifter series (wolves, cougars, jaguars and coming soon, bears!) In each of these series, none of these shifters knows that the other shifters exist; their worlds were kept separate. Well, in this book, things are changing. Everett has wanted to date Demetria since he first met her but she was dating his best friend Matt. When Matt and Everett are on a mission for JAG to save a young female jaguar shifter, Matt is killed, leaving Everett the responsibility of telling Demetria. After a year, both Everett and Demetria are still dealing with their feelings of Matt's death but each of them have feelings for each other as well. Is it possible for them to be together when they're both still feeling guilty over feeling like they are betraying Matt? That's basically the romance story line to this book but there's so much more! In this book, wolf and jaguar shifter worlds collide. I don't want to say how because that would be a MAJOR spoiler for this book. I'll just say that jaguar shifters find out that wolf shifters exist and it's up to Demetria and Everett to try to establish a unity between the two groups. The story flows really well and if very heartwarming. It's not a hot and heavy romance, it's more of a simmering love story. There are no big action scenes and nothing nefarious happens. It's just a really nice story taking place around Christmas time. The exciting part of this book is the fact that the shifter world just got a lot more complicated and opens up a whole new avenue in which the author can now explore. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in whichever series comes out next!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Very Jaguar Christmas What a story! Spear is an author who can make the pages sizzle just as easily as she can draw you into the suspense of the tale that she creates. It is a phenomenal mix that kept me on my toes throughout. The solid mythology and world building that she presents is intensely intricate and draws you into it. I love the mixing of the series & can't wait to see what comes of it and the colliding worlds. Spear leads the way with some very memorable characters here. Their actions and reactions to the events within the story really serve to solidify the plot. The plot twists kept coming as the characters kept surprising me. On top of that, they're just plain fun individuals. The amount of heart that goes into every aspect of their lives is endearing. Oh, and just FYI. Jaguars in the snow are priceless. Spear has created a very intricate and intriguing addition to her series that opes up the doors to a whole lot of fun! This is a story that I'd easily recommend to others and that has left me wondering what will happen next.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast paced, sweet story A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS is the fifth installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HEART OF THE JAGUAR paranormal, romance series. This is Guardian agent Demetria MacFarlane, and JAG agent Everett Anderson’s story line. A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. JAG is the policing arm and special forcers agency of the jaguar shifter community. Told from dual third person perspectives (Demetria and Everett) A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS follows the building relationship between two jaguar shifters-Demetria MacFarlane, a Guardian agent for the special forces JAG unit; and JAG Golden Claws agent Everett Anderson- a friends to lovers romance that sees Everett falling for his late former partner’s girlfriend. When a young artic wolf shifter is dropped off at the local jaguar daycare Everett and Demetria are assigned to investigate the whereabouts of the child’s parents, and the who, what and why behind his appearance at the shifter daycare. One year earlier, Demetria’s boyfriend, Matt Bruskrud, was killed while on assignment in the Costa Rican rain forest. Matt’s JAG partner Everett Anderson had always had a ‘crush’ on Demetria but the female jaguar was off limits while Demetria remained in a relationship with Matt. Now partnered together to search for information regarding the foundling jaguar cub, Everett begins a slow seduction of the woman that calls to his heart. A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS merges Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE JAGUAR and HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal series wherein neither species was aware of the other’s existence. With the merger comes the USF-United Shifter Force that will be headed by our leading couple-Demetria and Everett, and badass JAG enforcer Howard Sternum. I am not sure if Terry has planned a spin off series, but I am looking forward to more stories focusing on the newly formed USF. There is a large ensemble cast of supporting and secondary characters including many of the previous story line couples, and a few cross over characters from Terry’s HEART OF THE WOLF series. We are introduced to JAG enforcer Howard Sternum- a bit of a badass jaguar who is called in when a jaguar has gone rogue or needs to be taken out. And of course Corey’s family of artic wolves whose own story has yet to be told. A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS is a fast paced, sweet story that focuses on a small artic wolf shifter child named Corey MacPherson who brings together two supernatural species during the Christmas holidays. The premise is heartwarming and magical; the characters are sweet, enthusiastic and animated; the romance is passionate and fated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shape shifting Christmas romance One of my favourite genres to read is paranormal romance. I love the thought that there are more species than humans on the planet and that there are those who can shape shift, and find love just like everyone else. I also love Christmas and holiday romances where people are brought together by the beauty of the season and can put aside their differences to find joy. So, going into A Very Jaguar Christmas I had all kinds of anticipation built up. Unfortunately, maybe because I haven’t read any of the author’s books before, this one kind of fell flat for me. With most books, you have the hope of being able to pick it up and find out what is happening in its world. I found that this book did not give enough detail or do enough world-building to enable me to jump into its world. The story centres on a Guardian agent named Demetria MacFarlane who is paired up with a JAG agent, Everett Anderson. They are paired up in order to encourage cooperation between the different levels of shifter law enforcement. Demetria and Everett are jaguars who have known each other for a while although neither has made a move. This is partly because of the events at the beginning of the book, when Matt, Demetria’s partner, dies while on a mission with Everett. Here, Demetria and Everett are joining forces to save at-risk shifter teenagers from ruining their lives. Mixed in with that plotline is an element of mystery because it is in this book that the jaguars discover that they aren’t the only shape shifting species out there – there are wolves too. In all, it was a cute holiday read with a little side of action. I just wish that the author had provided more explanation for the world that Demetria and Everett inhabit. I think I would have gotten a lot more out of it.
