Paperback | October 28, 2014

Queen Victoria, still mourning her long-dead husband Prince Albert, has found solace in John Brown, an enigmatic palace servant who dabbles in the occult and keeps the grieving queen entertained with his tarot card readings. Undertaker Violet Harper is invited to attend one of Mr. Brown's infamous readings, during which he implies that Buckingham Palace will soon be shrouded in death's dark veil. Well acquainted with death, Violet shrugs him off as a charlatan--until his sinister divinations begin to prove true. . .

Violet wonders if something foul is in the cards when the aristocratic young friends of the queen's daughter begin to die under mysterious circumstances. Her suspicions only grow when one of London's "moralists," a group bent on repealing the law that forces prostitutes into hospitals, suffers a similar fate. The deaths merely buttress the queen's enthusiasm for Mr. Brown's ominous talents, and, concerned by the fortuneteller's influence, Violet races against time to unearth the truth before the killer strikes again. But as she closes in on a murderer with an unearthly motive, Violet realizes she may be digging her own grave. . .

By turns heartwrenching and hopeful, A Virtuous Death is a gripping tale of fortitude besieged by vengeance inside the extraordinary world of Queen Victoria's court.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from sweet story A VERY LEVET CHRISTMAS is the latest novella in Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Eternity paranormal romance series. This is a short story featuring the little gargoyle known as Levet-the savior of the world-and a supernatural creature that only wants to be needed and loved. Hoping to celebrate Christmas with his ‘friends’, Levet is once again turned away by the very people he loves and protects. A VERY LEVET CHRISTMAS is a storyline that finds Levet on a mission to stop a challenge for supremacy between Santiago (King of the Weres) and Damon –a pureblood Were whose heritage is rife with betrayal and mistrust. All of his life Damon has been pushed to destroy Santiago and everything he represents but when the opportunity presents itself, he will be blindsided by a small gargoyle who helps Damon see the error of his ways. When the Christmas Angel becomes trapped between worlds, she commissions Levet to carry out her duties that must be completed by midnight. Following the same path as Charles Dickens’s –A CHRISTMAS CAROL - Levet takes our long suffering Were on a trip through his past, his present and the possible future if Damon were to succeed in his quest for the throne. As Santiago and the supernatural community celebrate the birth of his ‘pups’ they are unaware that their safety has once again been reassured by the action of a misunderstood little gargoyle. A Very Levet Christmas is a sweet story that takes another look at a small gargoyle’s attempts to be noticed. The Guardians of Eternity series finds Levet continuously on the receiving end of disrespect and distrust but he will continue to prove himself worthy one step at a time. In A Very Levet Christmas, Levet once again, saves the day, although no one is aware of how close they came to battle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lots to learn One of the things I like about this series is there is alway lots to learn in each book. Parts of history and social reform play a large part of this book. I hate to admit it but I particularly enjoy the notes at the end with more detail and information. That being said the mystery itself was just okay for me. The booked picked up once we "meet" Mary again...I am hoping in the next book we get see more of Sam, Susanna and Mary.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "A Very Levet Christmas" by Alexandra Ivy. Book 11.5 in the Guardians of Eternity series. I read this novella in March 2015. This was my review. Such a fun little novella! A new take on a Christmas story involving gargoyles, werewolves and vampires! Oh my! Only this story isn't showing the real meaning of Christmas. It's showing a werewolf named Damon what his future will be if he stays on the path he has chosen to try and kill Salvatore, the Kings of Werewolves. And who better to be the guide to the past, present and future than the beloved Levet! All Levet wanted for Christmas was to see his friend Harley and her new babies but when he is turned away at the gate to Salvatore's lair, he finds a Christmas angel in trouble! When he learns Harley's pups may be in trouble, he has to help. But being magically transported through time with a grumpy werewolf is not how Levet wanted to spend his Christmas. I love Levet! He's such a fun character to read about. With his carefree attitude and an ego bigger than he is (or so he portrays), you can't help but love him. I really enjoyed this little story.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Victorian Adventures This book is much like others by this author. I found it less interesting with the plot going in many directions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Very Levet Christmas Facing a lonely Christmas, Levet ends up assisting a Christmas Angel with her task of convincing Damon, a pureblood war to choose love instead of challenging the King of Weres in this magical Guardians of Eternity novella. This fast paced and smooth flowing plot adds Christmas cheer to the reader?s heart as Levet possibly ends up have a truly wonderful Christmas time. Alexandra Ivy brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the strong compelling Guardians of Eternity characters continue to charm and captivate the readers into visiting their world. Levet have a bit of a lull in his romance life, but after helping the Christmas Angel maybe he can wish for a little hot and spicy Christmas cheer for himself, but first our expert in ?armour? must convince Damon that challenging the King of Weres is a completely crazy idea when he is throwing away the one thing everyone truly wants?their mate. This story is delightfully charming and thrilling with Alexandra Ivy?s own version of A Christmas Carol that is really just a perfectly Levet story and of course I can?t wait to read the next Guardians of Eternity story.
